The Outcome of being a Blogger

18. May 2015 by swissfitchick

I started blogging in October 2012. My blog looked horrible and I had no clue what I was doing. I was terrified of being attacked or murdered every time I clicked on the Publish button.

This trip involved more epic results of my blogging career than I ever thought was possible. Almost 3 years later, I met Laura the second time and I left a big piece of my heart with her. Sometimes you meet people and you just get along like this. I taught her and Vegas the word FART in Swiss German. I didn’t record it. I was busy being in tears. But she also knows how to say THIS IS A SMURF.

Goodbyes suck either way. I had an epic time with my Coach Crystal from CrossFit Hillcrest who made me take several steps on my hands and Toes to Rings. Still working on more than one damn Toes To Bars.

And then Blend 2015 started. A big retreat of Healthy Living bloggers in Boulder, Colorado. My favorite ladies were with me in the cabin except to one (argh!). Meghan, Amanda and Carly are three of the bloggers I always, always try to read and connect no matter how busy I am. And even if it sounds weird and corny, you DO get to know the person via Internet. Still – there is nothing that beats a real hug, talking and laughing in person and just being able to be together face to face. They were the reason why I actually registered for the whole craziness and it was simply neat to hang out all weekend with them. Being the lazy Swiss blogger who doesn’t make a money with it, I was a little overwhelmed by the whole sponsor story and these many girls. I am not used to be around such a bunch of ladies – I work and always worked with guys, I grew up with guys….but it was a hell of a weekend. A big shout out to the organisators Lindsay, Lauren and Janetha!!! And of course to all the sponsors.

It got especially funny when we decided to participate in the Quest Nutrition Photo Contest and somehow while hanging out on the couches got the idea to imitate Pam from Baywatch. Unfortunately YouTube won’t let me have the Baywatch song. But I ranked second. I am proud of us.

Almost did it.

TripNow we need to stop for a second and realize, that this took us about 3 tries. THREE. This is freaking boss-style. I wish we had a video of us collapsing in laughter. It was hysterical. Plus, I don’t even know how many times we all watched it over and over again. During the rest of the weekend you would always hear the sound of the QUestbar hailstorm on me from one of our phones. Tragical hilariousness. Here’s at least an outtake pic of me bursting.

The whole idea started with Meghan who got obsessed with Slow-Mo videos after she took one of me at CrossFit Roots doing Double Unders – btw an impressing box in Boulder City. I trained twice there during the weekend and doing GHD sit ups with a breath-taking view on the mountains is not too bad!

Meghan did her first CF class. I am a proud #vanillagorilla sister.

Other than that there was a lot of laying around on everyone’s beds, never ending chats, Workouts, Food and a goddamn huge amount of Swag. I sent home a ridiculous expensive package it’s not even funny anymore. But most importantly was to celebrate these stars.

Now, my private blog will probably never be a business blog. I am blogging for work and my job is taking up so much time at the Computer, blogging privately for me is to live out my passions in creativity, photographing, reading, writing, editing and – most importantly – interacting with my readers and fellow bloggers. I definitely want and need to create a strict schedule and my celebrity blogger friends gave me the motivation and encouragement to do so. But Switzerland is not or not yet a Blog Country or at least not in the Healthy Living area. That’s extremely fine with me. I have more readers than I ever expected to have and I still love what I do.

So I stay here and keep going. You stay too?

Ever been to a Blogger Meet Up?

What’s your next travel destination?Ā  I will be home in 4 days. Uh.

Luc (Luc is obviously the Sydney/US way to say my name. I take it.)

One of my faves was missing too at Blend – Katie! Linking up with her MIMM today!

  1. LOL! I would have given you the top prize! It was hilarious!!! It is your blog so you can do whatever you want, girl! Business or not it is Lucie that I like to see šŸ˜‰ What a fun weekend…I am jealous!

  2. Aww I loved looking at all your pics, especially the Blend ones! Wish I could have joined you all!
I’m off to London today and can’t wait! my little brother lives down there so time to eat some good food and do some sightseeing!
The UK really isn’t a healthy living blog country either (well not compared to the USA) so like you I don’t think I will be running my blog as a business anytime soon! But that’s ok, I still wouldn’t stop doing it for the world! šŸ™‚

  3. I still can’t believe you didn’t take first for that! Totally rigged. But it’s definitely one part of the trip that I’ll never forget, so that alone made it all worth it šŸ™‚ We seriously need to figure out a way to make another meeting happen, though, because those 3 days just weren’t long enough. Miss you tonnes!!

  4. I loved reading about your experience as a blogger! I’ve been at it (fitness and fashion) for 6 months, and I wonder if I will ever lose motivation. I don’t think so! I love going to blogger meet ups and sharing stories with the other supportive ladies. It was really cool to see all the fun you had connecting with the ones in your community!!

    • It will come and go – sometimes the motivation is spot on, sometimes less. BUt that’s with everything in life, right? Just keep on going as long as you love it!

  6. I’m glad you had such a good time!! I’m so sad that I wasn’t able to make it to Blend – I would have loved to see your pretty face in person! ā¤

  9. Julie says:

Your video is hilarious! Also, you definitely have the monopoly on healthy living in Switzerland – I don’t think I know another one!

  10. carlyjg says:

That video made me laugh SO FREAKING HARD. I literally was crying laughing as we filmed it. Hilarious. I’m so glad I got to meet you in person. You’re even better in real life ;). Miss you already!!

    • Well, imagine I had to run, jump and smile while nearly dying from laughter. Seriously, I just didn’t know how to help myself, I had to laugh too hard. It was impossible to even fucking BREATH! šŸ™‚

I miss you too! I LOVED to finally getting to meet you – I wish we all were in Maui right now!

  11. As soon as I saw your Quest video, I had no doubt that you are officially my favorite- SO hilarious and lord knows HOW you didn’t rank 1st…epic stuff! I love your approach to blogging and it’s similar to mine- while I did consider monetising off my blog at one point, I realised that it’s sucked the fun out of the whole thing. Blogging started to feel like an obligation rather than a fun hobby!

  12. sweatequalssuccess says:

Ahhhh! It looks like you all had such a marvelous time. Hoping to make it to BLEND one of these years! šŸ™‚

  13. cottercrunch says:

Who thought I would ever write again. Link in Bio. ā€š'In essence, love is the consistent embodiment of care, compassion, kindness, and joy toward yourself, your partner, and each other as two interconnected and supported beings. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
