Hey Peeps!

I have so many pics for you, it’s not even funny anymore. So much stuff going on around these parts – and only SIX week until I fly off to my around-the-world trip. It’s UNREAL.

So, let’s start with carneval – Fasnacht in Basel. I don’t want to explain too much about it, cause most of you do not get it anyway (I talk to you Miss Pielak πŸ™‚ ) but let me just say these are three days of fun, too much booze and food. Good thing it stops after 3 days πŸ™‚

Fasnacht Fasnacht Fasnacht Fasnacht Full force back to work with a whole day of Olympic Lifting Competition! These days are superlong, but I love everything about it being with my people the whole day, filming, photographing, blogging – my favorite part is probably that I don’t need to compete πŸ™‚ Though it’s unavoidable to start going crazy after 12 damn hours in a freaking gym hall.

Besides it, the athletes did an epic performance, we tracked down ELEVEN podium places. Sssssso proud.

SelfieAnd now we are in the middle of the Reebok Games Open. I love it. The heats at the box are wicked, vibrating atmosphere and a ton of fun. I decided to compete with the scaled version when I saw the WOD 15.1:

9 minutes AMRAP – 15 Toes to Bar / 10 Deadlifts / 5 Snatches

15.1 A: 6 minutes time cap: 1-Max-Rep Clean&Jerk

Toes to Bar? Ewwww. 35kg Snatch? Gasp…..So I did the scaled version on Friday and rocked it – it was quite easy. So my team encouraged me to go for the RX version. It took me a day to think about it πŸ™‚ but I went for it. 96 reps, that definitely exceeded my expectations and I was a happy camper.

CrossFit CrossFitCrossFit CrossFitMy meal prep organisation is suffering big time. I do what I can in between all this unleashed craziness and I am happy to say that at least 80% of my meals are clean, and then some chocolate and some more πŸ™‚ Throwing Sweet Potatoes and other veggies into the oven, cooking eggs and oats in the microwave or grilling chicken burgers and fishfilets for the next 65 days are the things I manage to do. I swear, my cleaning lady, my bike and my car safe my life currently. I’d be interested in an allround person who does my taxes, my grocery shopping, bills and laundry. Anyone who is interested – I pay in natural produce cookies and Swiss Chocolate.

My trainings are going well, I found a better timing and pacing with more rest. Loads of Interval Cardio for the Opens Prep and THREE runs in the RAIN last week. Seriously, the mornings I picked to run were rainy. I rolled with it. And sang.

Cheezuz, this song definitely shows how old I am. I am SO in love with it!!

  2. I would do your grocery shopping and pay your bills in exchange for chocolate. I’m thinking that white chocolate banana bar Laura got me last year, specifically. The only catch is you’d have to come stateside. Oh wait, you’re planning to….see this is going to work out great.

  3. Congrats on 15.1! Isn’t it funny how a little extra judge from someone can make you do so much better? We had a partner WOD last night with OHS and I ended up lifting more than I thought I could πŸ™‚
    Sooo getting Open envy… Maybe I’ll just live through you πŸ˜‰ with assignment deadlines all in these few weeks plus a trip home etc it just wasn’t feasible without me having a breakdown… Next year!!!

    • Congrats on the OHS!! I had my fair part with them on 15.2 now….but it went well! I always try to have my favorite people around me during the WOD – makes me feel so much better!

  4. I want to come tot his carnival next year! Maybe we can find something fun in SoCal… Apparently there’s a wine festival every damn week. We’re almost there!!!

    I should have gym by then too. You’re totally coming with me… just try not to out bad-ass me. πŸ˜‰

    • San Diego has Mardigra! THough I think that was in February…..
      But anyway, you need to come to the carneval here, it is such a big tradition and very popular!

    Spring is definitely starting to show up in Geneva as well and part of me loves it but the other part is sad because that means the skiing season is ending!

    I don’t really meal prep but always meal plan and follow the same” flexible template” for my meals. It saves me time and money. I also buy a lot of convenience food: hard boiled eggs, cooked shrimp, cooked chicken, microwaveable rice pouches, bags of pre-cut veggies (I’m loving the Bangkok mix from Betty Bossy btw! It’s delicious in stir fries), and frozen vegetables. This way I can throw together a tasty meal in MINUTES. It’s perfect for busy work days.

    • Can you believe I havent’ been skiing all season? I hope to get one or two days in before it is over 😦
      I like the ‘flexible template’ thing. I think I start to roll with that too! Cooked shrimp is perfect! And I love the Bangkok Mix too. I just think those veggie mixes are totally overpriced!

  7. Carneval looks like so much fun! Always such fun to share a massive celebration with friends!
    So excited and nervous now that it’s open time – luckily the WODs are released in the middle of the night on a Thursday and I will always be doing the WOD 6.30am on the Friday so I don’t have any time to overly think about it and get too nervous! Who knows what lies ahead, but one thing is for certain we can’t predict Castro! haha!

    the chicken curry burgers look so yummy, i love anything with curry. my biggest tip for meals is just that i put all of my veggies in the freezer, then i cook them when i need them. i basically freeze a lot of stuff, and i only eat raw/fresh produce when i am cooking special. i hate wasting veggies and like eating them cooked or in soups, so it’s no big deal for me and money saved. winning!

  11. I get jealous every year that you post about carneval because I wish I could be there to experience it myself — looks like so much fun! It’s been the same old, same old around these parts… lots of work and school and blogging to the point where I feel like I might lose my mind, but I’ve got a vacation to Hawaii coming up SOON so I’m looking forward to that.
