Happy Wednesday!

It feels pretty good to be back on a regular blogging schedule. I missed writing and to nag you with my brilliant jokes and stories of my life. Welcome to WIAW – I am 3 days into a cleaner eating routine and it goes well! Read on for some #uglybutgood food pics.

I had the amazing idea to start eating all the food I had in my freezer. I don’t know if anyone of you does that, but I behave like a person before a starving period and stuff my fridge with tons of chicken, seafood, and enormous amounts of precooked carbs like buckwheat groats, quinoa or sweet potatoes. And then they literally freeze there forever cause I forget about it. And ever when I open it, I am amazed by the choice I have. But then I am too lazy to defrost and close it again. And eat bread with ham or canned tuna.

NOT so on Sunday night, I picked a ridiculously big tupper of buckwheat groats and mixed it the last 3 mornings with eggs – and then made it either sweet with apple and cinnamon, or savory with baby tomatoes and herbs.

I can’t believe I didn’t drink since Sunday, it feels wonderful to have a clear mind for more than 24 hours. I almost forgot about it! I didn’t cut out sugar 100%, but I must say considering the piles and piles of cakes and cookies and chocolate we have in the office, I do great.

Lunch: Salad Date with the Bestie. Here I had grilled chicken, beetroot, lettuce, apple, chickpeas, parmesan and whole grain croutons.

I am still too addicted to these. Maybe I should cut them down to two a week. Might be a good idea.

Postworkout or dinner: I wanna marry scallops. Seriously, they are my most favorite seafood ever. And grilled and then cooked with eggs? Holy mother of deliciousness.

Soo…..let’s see how the weekend works! I will be off to the Swiss Alps AGAIN on Friday morning to go and get my own bobsled run!! I can NOT wait. Since our office is a crowd of party people, I will have to focus on moderation. It will be good, no doubt about it.

Seafood, yes or no?

Ever had buckwheat groats? I swear, it tastes amazing especially when cooked with ground vanilla and cinnamon.

Do you tend to stuff your freezer until it’s about to burst and then forget about the food in there?

  1. When in doubt, freeze it..at least that’s our approach over here ;)! I’ve never thought to freeze quinoa though- good to know it works out fine! I made a huge batch earlier this week and not sure I can finish it over the next few days, nor do I want to chuck it..in the freezer it goes! Those scallops look divine- like you I’m a HUGE seafood fan! It has to be fresh though, I can’t handle the canned stuff!

  3. Haha, I am actually eating my freezer as we speak. Ironically, it’ ALL baked goods of some sort but has been breakfast and lunches lately.

    you give me so much seafood envy.

  4. Isn’t it crazy how you forget how awesome it is to have a clear head when you’re livin’ it up? I’m in the same boat. 2 days sober. No processed foods. No sugar. Woot!

    I don’t think you have to ask me twice about the seafood. Or my freezer. Which is full of Sizzlefish seafood. Love it.

  5. Oh those scallops look amazing! I too could eat them everyday, think they are my favourite seafood (cooked properly of course!).
    I need to eat my freezer, but then when I start to see the bottom I fill it up again in a panic that I will somehow run out! crazy I know!!

    Buckwheat…YES! It is so good! Cocoa powder and some coconut butter, perfect breakfast!
    I always forget what I put in the freezer! But I always know, there is SOMETHING good in there for emergencies!

  7. I love all the veggies and grains. It’s right up my alley, and I’m glad you didn’t cut sugar altogether. You need a little sweet something something in your life.🙂

  8. Seafood YES PLEASE!!! Scallops are one of my favorite too and I just hate it when restaurants serve you a main dish of scallops and you will only get 4 or 5 beautifully plated glistening scallops..I mean I am paying for it!!! I think I can say that my freezer is even more full than my fridge😉

  10. Talk about too much food … not in my freezer but my cupboards, though. It’s safe to say just in case the storm predicted for the weekend hits Germany I won’t be starving😉 .
    Seeing you did it with quinoa I have the suspection you’ll influence me to go and pick up buckwheat again despite not liking it before. Hm …
    I may or may not be jealous of your coworkers. Your company sounds pretty awesome with all the joint activities. Let me know if there’s a free position😀 . And have fun in the alps!

    • Yes, we do so many events and parties together, it is really fun.
      I can recommend buckwheat, just cook it with loads of cinnamon and ground vanilla, or cut an apple and cook it with, it’s so good!
