Strongmanzombies, Wine and Friends

Good morning and welcome to Monday’s Party – thank you Katie for hosting!!

So, I am back at work since a week but not for long πŸ™‚ 2 more weeks and we close up for the holidays. Nothing to complain here. I fell flat on the floor of reality when I did my first training back at the box on Tuesday. 1 hour Olympic Lifting (50kg Clean PR, yeah!) and 2 hours Advanced Class. I remember that sometime originally, it was scheduled for 75 minutes, but yep, that fact got lost somewhere in space. Michael punished us with a Strongman WOD that nearly killed me.

4 rounds of:

25 American Swings (16kg)

50 Double Unders

100m Strongman Walk with Keg/Yoke/Farmers Walk/Prowler/Atlas Stone

I don’t know about you, but after intense trainings like this, I am wide and wild awake. I was in bed by midnight and checked the clock the last time at 1:30. Oh well. I take it as an excuse to drink some wine next time.

On Thursday, I was back at Gymnastics and planked my friend Roby. 78kg-human-plank.

The weekend was definitely marvelous, it was filled with tons of friendstime – best thing ever. Friday night the traditional Friends Christmas Dinner at Sylvia’s and her husband’s place. Good good times.

Spoilt for choice with a herd of shoes…..after 2,5 weeks of no-make-up, beach wear and flip flops, I LOVED to dress up, wearing make up and jewelry and being with people almost all weekend long.

The only Food pic I got - desser of course. Chocolate Mousse, Passion Fruit Tarte, Mandarine Cream and Cookies.

Saturday I trained and hung out at the box and caught some impressions of this Winter-Weekend-Day there. Saturday offers almost everything: Competition Class, All Levels Classes, Olympic Lifting, Intro Classes and of course there is Open Gym. Typical Saturday.

CrossFit CrossFit CrossFitLater I had a visitor from Zurich – Anne – who I spent time with at the Christmas Market. Of course with spiced wine and followed by dinner at one of my favorite Italian places in Basel. It’s so good to have her around. Endless good talks and laughs.

Sunday I slept in until 9:30. And I had no intention to get up whatsoever –Β but I did. Quick outdoor sprints and a little WOD on the schoolyard near my house. Playgrounds are the perfect gyms. I didn’t intend to whine about the weather – but please bear with me. We have a grey color since I am back from Spain and accompanied by drizzling rain. Honestly? It SUCKS. My way to fight the sadness – go out, catch the fresh air and sweat. Winter in the city is pretty unnecessary if you ask me. Anyway, my outdoor session made me feel so much better and was followed by mobility at home and this hip routine by Tara. I posted the video already sometime earlier – I do this so often, it is SO good to open up those hips. And I don’t have to think, just follow. Win. πŸ˜‰

Putting up Christmas Decor, demolishing a chocolate Santa, manicure, laundry. Typical Sunday.

Jonas (my male Bestie πŸ™‚ ) picked me up later in the day to hang out all Sunday with them at their place. It was fabulous and my favorite way to waste a grey Sunday. We obviously had a blast taking selfies. OMG. My abs. It might seem absurdly to outsiders why we sometimes laugh about things like we do, but well, I wanted to lay down in fetal curl and laugh for the rest of my life.

Little man then wanted a selfie too. We then had a delicious veggie quiche for dinner and storytime with little Blondie.

Cross fingers that next Sunday will be snow and sun – Jonas and me plan to finally hit the slopes!!!

Did you ever try hot spiced wine? It’s the only wine I drink like it’s my job…..

What’s a typical Saturday or Sunday at yours?Β

Do you use playgrounds to workout when you’re outdoors?Β

  1. My Sunday involved a run, grocery shopping and then sitting on the couch watching hours of Project Runaway all stars. I had other intentions but sometimes doing nothing wins. It was exactly what I needed, especially after working insane hours at the office last week.

  2. OMG – that plank!!! I must try it. You’re so strong, my friend!

I wish I was there to hang out too. you know I’d be all over play grounds and desserts… you have have the hot wine though. I’ll stick to the regular stuff… but you better share the Santa! πŸ˜‰

  3. Promise you’ll have an extra glass of spiced wine for me next time…that is like the epitome of Christmastime for me- YUM! And dude that plank- you.are.a.beast!! A typical Sunday for me involves a lie-in, breakfast in bed and catching up on tv…it’s rather glorious!

Hot spiced wine?!?! Never tried, but want to!!! That sounds so good.
    Um, you’re a plank queen!
Typical Sunday for me is sleep, coffee, friends, family time!

  5. Ughhh I think I am the only one left that hasn’t yet put up Christmas decorations!!! I guess I need to find a treat to motivate me…;) Tha

    • (Stupid I-Pad keyboard!!!!) ……That plank strength is amazing! I have heard really good reviews about Tara’s videos so I am going to give them a go! Sundays for me are usually very low key and catching up with readings, cooking and cleaning..don’t know what I do but by the end of the week my house looks like it has been raided by a family of crazy racoons! πŸ™‚

It’s beginning to look a lot like like Christmas in Switzerland. I wanna come drink hot chocolate with you & watch Christmas movies!! So exciting that work is coming to a close in 2 weeks for the holiday. Now you have much more to time to devote to cross fit. Exciting πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • Oh I would LOVE to have you and the babies here for hot chocolate and christmas movies!! That would be just perfect.
And yes, I am so grateful we have some time to unwind at the ind of the year.

  7. That is the ONLY time I’ll ever drink wine (mainly because it’s spiked with a tonne of sugar and hides the gross wine taste lol!)

Hope the weather is more temperamental for you- then you can sun and slope and well…

i knew there was a thousand reasons i love you – spiced wine!!! lol. seriously i make it every year as soon as i can, and love the smell, and the taste. i put lots of spices and fruits so in my mind, it’s an antioxident πŸ˜€

  9. I feel like I would break my toes if I tried to plank with someone on top of me. Either that or just snap in half πŸ˜† You, my friend, are epic. And Saturdays are all over the place, but Sundays are always devoted to family. Going over for dinner has become somewhat of a tradition, which I’m loving because of the fact that it means I don’t have to cook πŸ˜›

Who thought I would ever write again. Link in Bio. β€š'In essence, love is the consistent embodiment of care, compassion, kindness, and joy toward yourself, your partner, and each other as two interconnected and supported beings. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
