Weekend Snapshots & Fig Banana Truffle Recipe

Sometimes you have to discuss the really important stuff.

Text Message

Post Legday discussions with Laura. The message on top was the reply to my request that we look a little cleaner (we were both shiny and sweaty on our last Skype Call. Thank God we couldn’t smell each other) and more appropriate next time we skype. Obviously I got a big NO on that.

Another blend moment – Lindsay’s package arrived from Texas!! I think it took about 3 days. WTF! The package I sent to Sam took about 2,5 years.

So many goodies! And yes, I opened this pumpkin pie bar right away. Greedy as usual.

Happy Monday!! Sunny fall weather is spreading happiness around these parts.

This called for an excursion with Mom to Germany’s farmers market. I LOVE!

I jumped in excitment.

Coffee break in the sun – once more I just ‘ate’ the milkfoam and skipped on the coffee. Will I ever learn? I DON’t like coffee and I seem not to change that. I should just order milkfoam.

Lunch had to happen when back home….

My kabocha squash hoarding MIGHT be getting a little out of hand. Is that even possible? I bought some spinach and flowers too. Just for the record.

I also bought a grill pan. BBQ all year long, hellyeah!!! I swear, there is no use for my other pans anymore, I can throw them out the window. THIS one is a gem!!!

Saturday recipe making: Fig-Banana-Truffles. Inspired by the Copycat Lindt Truffles from Aussie.

Fig Banana Truffles

200g dried figs

150g Banana (1 large)

75g glutenfree flour (any works)

50g Vanilla Protein Powder (I used Growing Naturals)

100g Chocolate Chips melted

Blend all the ingredients except the chocolate.

Form balls and roll in melted chocolate. Put in the fridge and store them there.

They went to the Box once again. Otherwise I would have demolished all of them in one sitting, no doubt about that. SO GOOD.

That grill pan does not suck at all. Really. Made an amazing dinner with it. Someone please clarify why I didn’t realize earlier that a grill pan is the thing I ever missed in my life.

Sunday morning sprintsession. I love/hate it.

Postworkout: Eggwhite/Oats Porridge with blueberries.

Sunday baking: Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Blondies by Davs. Yeah. They turned out as muffin brunettes. I threw in the chocolate chips when the doughmix was still warm (we don’t have canned puree, so I have to cook the pumpkin and then puree it). #fail #typical

Whatever – they taste AMAZING.

Lunch and preworkout:

Steamed chickenbreast, salad, avocado, ricecakes

I also drank this Energy Booster that Lindsay sent me.

BoosterIt totally DID boost! I squatted my one max rep weight 3 reps with pause (65kg), did legless rope climbs and was second in the WOD.

That WOD was killer!! I was like omg-my-lungs-are-going-to-explode-in-a-second. I am thrilled I could do proper knee to elbows – 30 in a row. I couldn’t do them for a while now cause of my trapped shoulder muscle, but after several physiotherapy sessions, it’s getting better!

You see, I am not too wordy, but that doesn’t matter, cause I will babble enough on the next WIAW post which is waiting for you on Wednesday. Prepare yourself.

Last recipe you made?

Do you have a grill pan?

If you do Cardio, what’s your favorite way to do it? I love Jump Rope, Running and Rowing. But PLEASE not for hours and hours. Quick and intense, that’s enough.

  1. Did you carry all those squashes home on your bike?! I think you should try to carry Christen home on your bike. With the mini-ponytail. LOL!

My favourite cardio are any Les Mills BodyCombat or BodyJam sessions – mind you, I have a love/hate thing with tabata.

I covet your pile of kabocha – and that beautiful weather and Farmer’s Market 🙂

  3. Now I want a grill pan. Guess I’ll have to talk Joshua in going back to IKEA this weekend. Maybe I can use the excuse that the babies want it? Hmmmm 🙂 🙂

omG I am hoarding kabocha too! My friends at uni are making fun of me that I aaaaalways bring baked squash with me when we have long hours or if I see a kabocha (they are still so rare in Zurich) I immediately have to buy it, even if it means carrying it around like a weirdo xD

Ever since I have fallen in love with Body Pump I just do that… like the 5 minute squat track – that is my cardio! Buuuuuut I normally consider my dance classes my fun cardio hours.. I just haven’t made it back to any of them yet (Still attempting to go, but haven’t managed since coming back from Munich). I used to love HIIT sprints or cardio DVDs but I no longer have the patience for at home workouts… I keep skipping exercises I don’t want to do xD

  5. Cardio definitely short and sweet! Sometimes I mix it into my strength training like that I don’t even see it coming and voilà its done! Ha!
I just happen to have bought another grill pan too! It is one of my favorite types of cooking methods and since I don’t have a backyard with a proper BBQ..it kind of does the trick!
Seriously girl you are killing it at the box!! 🙂

  6. That kabocha stash is just ridiculous….ly amazing!

So glad the truffles worked out for you- love your cheeky twist on them- banana and fig- strangeanddelicious 😉

  7. I want to farmers market with you. It’s one of life’s greatest pleasures…next to that other thing of course. 🙂

I’m happy your pumpkin didn’t come from a can. Makes it more legit in my eyes (yes I’m a brat) and I would 100% dress up for a Skype call. At least from the top up. Pants are optional. 🙂

  8. I’m so, so, SO happy to live in a place where I can have kabocha all year long so I don’t have to hoard it… because those suckers are crazy heavy. And The other day I was walking through the Asian market and I came across some kabocha that were literally twice as big as my head. I don’t even wanna know what they’re feeding those things…

  9. haha I love the kabocha stash! I picked up a GIANT one from the market on Saturday – it’s pretty fabulous.

  10. I actually think the melting chocolate was genius! Although to be honest I’m way too intimidated to actually roast pumpkin. Thank goodness we have canned here! Hope you liked them 🙂

I see red kuri squash in your stash…do you like it? I tried it recently and am not a fan. Maybe I’m just spoiled by kabocha….my hoarding is in full force too. Can’t walk by a display of them without grabbing one. Hope they don’t go bad too fast!

  12. Lindsay says:

I bribed to the post to get your package there in time for leg day!! Hehe .. Did you send me those muffins? You better!! Jk love ya

  13. cottercrunch says:

boo, did my last comment not go through?

  14. The Padre says:

Happy Last Day Of Sept OR Happy First Day Of Oct…. Big Hugs

Who thought I would ever write again. Link in Bio. ‚'In essence, love is the consistent embodiment of care, compassion, kindness, and joy toward yourself, your partner, and each other as two interconnected and supported beings. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
