YES! Time for a recipe!! I know. WHO AM I?? I don’t even want to count the weeks since I created my last recipe.
But hey, today is the day!! As per request of Mr. Aussie, I made a summer smoothie which is perfect to enjoy postworkout – it’s a nice combo of protein and carbs. AND it includes my current favorite fruit – CHERRIES! They are SO delicious at the moment and I absolutely LOVE to pair them with vanilla and chocolate flavour.
I used 2 great brands in the recipe. For the vanilla flavour I went with Growing Naturals Protein Powder – a Rice Protein which is my favorite vegan protein powder. For a slight sweetness and chocolate touch, I used the Cacao Syrup from NuNaturals – they were so nice to send me the syrup to taste and let me tell you, I LOVE it. I don’t know about you, but I love to ‘eat’ my smoothies with a spoon – so the thicker, the better. Oats and Xanthan Gum are the secrets here. PLUS I added a Superfood Bonus: MACA POWDER!
Vanilla Cherry Protein Smoothie(vegan, glutenfree, fat free – ideal for postworkout)
125g cherries, pitted (about 1 cup)
1 heaped scoop vanilla protein powder
40g glutenfree oats (1/2 cup)
1/2 tsp xanthan gum
1 tsp maca powder
1 tbsp NuNaturals Cacao Syrup
1 tsp each: ground vanilla, ground cinnamon
3dl water (10 oz)
Pour the water in the blender first.
Add all remaining ingredients
