WIAW#69 – Kirsch and Chocolate – my dessert of choice

Good morning and happy Wednesday!

Just to end the discussion here – YES, we are JUST friends. Cheeeesus, guys. You crack me up πŸ™‚

ANYWAYYYYYYS. We know by now that Wednesdays are for Food Parties.

WIAWbuttonSooooo, I still owe you some #foodporn from my trip to the Swiss Alps – and there is some, believe me!!

Let’s talk Friday. Before Tim arrived I sat down in my new cosy kitchen and enjoyed good old eggy oats with blueberries. OatsOn our road trip, we just snacked on fruits, hardboiled eggs and I brought these Roobars I found at the Whole Foods store the other days. Nothing new – pretty much the same ingredients like all the energy balls we create (yeah, we all prefer balls to bars, right? Tehehe.) – but they were a nice sweet organic treat nonetheless.Bars

I was starving by the time we got ready for dinner and before chewing my arm off, we attacked the salad bar. Without a clue what would expect us AFTER that starter. SaladI have to include here that I forgot my phone in the hotelroom and kind of freaked out when I realized that we ordered seafood. ‘I NEED to have a pic of that seafood, gosh, I have to go back and get my phone.’ – Talk about a big understanding for a #foodblogger – Tim ran to the room and got my phone. Good man. #bloggerproblems

Believe me, you will understand in a second why it was SO important to have my phone. We got offered the option to have a seafood and fishplatter for 2 (TWO) persons and sides. And then this arrived.

Bahahahaha. I COULDN’T stop laughing. I was like WHAT THE FAAACK??!! WHERE are the other 8 persons who are supposed to eat this with us?? LOL. Ok, we sent back all the potato stuff (I had 4 wedges, cause I LOVE potato wedges and I tasted the Risotto. It was heaven.) but we ate ALMOST the WHOLE plate. Well. We didn’t manage to eat all the FOUR whole seabass and trouts….but we demolished all the salmon, prawns and about 2/3 of the fish and the veggies. It was holy DAMN good!!!

Wine was needed.

Without even asking we were served dessert. I was about to explode. Tim capitulated, but I ate both of the chocolate creams. Yes, both. I think I was even ready for a third round. It was #foodgasm. I also had the kirschΒ  that was served (without ordering) with the coffee. I don’t know what kind of impression we made, but they somehow felt they need to feed us up – OR they thought we are used to amounts of food like this. Whatever, I had it all. No regrets.

DessertSaturday morning our hike was on the plan – and yes, we were ready for food again. I don’t know where the hell my body put the 13,5kg food from the night before,Β  but well, I was hungry. Crazy.

Scrambled eggs, fried egg, cucumber, peanut butter, Fruit with no fat quark

I packed some of the snack collection for the hike. You know you are a foodie when your hotelroom has a home-brought snack bar.

Coconut Water, green Smoothies, Nuts, Avocado, Roobars, Apples, Cherries, Cucumbers, Hardboiled eggs, blueberries

EngadinThere was a nice dinner with vegeterian sushi as a starter followed by grilled chicken breast&veggies (for me) and Saffron Risotto for Tim. I forgot my phone in the room. Damn. Tim got drunk, I drank water. Fun times πŸ™‚

After the run on Sunday morning we had breakfast (clearly) – I love a good breakfast buffet even more after a nice run. No pic, as it was the same like the day before!

LucieWe arrived back in Basel on Sunday afternoon and headed to Crossfit in the evening. Tim is a personal trainer but never did Crossfit before. Well, I needed to change that, obviously. It was a great class, and I hit a new PR – 2x 20 KB snatches with 16kg in the WOD!! Loved it. That was it:

2 rounds of:

500m row

40 Sumo Squat High Pull (KB)

30 Squats

20 KB Snatches

10 Push Ups

10 Sit UPs (or so – can’t remember)

500m Row

Blogger-like, I forced him to pose pull-up style for a picture. Why not??

And then it was time for the final soccer game. Of course Tim was beyond excited as the Germans were playing. I was semi-excited and happy to sip on my protein/oats shake and a gin-tonic for dessert. Booze is dessert, right? I think so.

image imageOh, and Germany won. FYI. Ok. Glad we have this out of the way now.

More important: Breakfast on Monday morning.

Eggs, eggwhites, oats, 7kg of cinnamon, large banana, cacao nibs

Later on, we strolled through Basel and before Tim left for Berlin, I cooked up a quick early-dinner:

Roasted Potatoes and Chicken, Saladbowl with Lettuce, mushrooms, apple, avocado.

That post is so ridiculously long, so I end it here.

The end.

Have a fabulous day lovies!!

Which dessert would you have chosen? Chocolate or berries?

What do you pack for a road trip?

  1. You should have sent me all the potatoes and that tub of risotto. I would have worked on that and left the fishies to you and your boy (kidding). Not about the potatoes though. I would have destroyed those. πŸ™‚

  2. Bridget says:

Holy cow!!!! That seafood platter looks amazing!!!!
I would have chosen berry…. No chocolate…. Ok both

  3. Chocolate… The answer is ALWAYS chocolate. And that platter is insane 😯 Although I kind of have an aversion to seafood, so I would have taken all the potato dishes and ran like the wind. Oh, and your hotel room looks kind of like mine — a snack bar is basically a necessity.

  5. OMG everything looks divine- as much as you guys worked out, you guys fuelled equally well! Totally drooling over that seafood platter! Chocolate trumps berries for me buuuut berry tart trumps chocolate for me…unless of course it’s Swiss chocolate and then that’s a whole different ball game ;)! It’s been a while since I went on a road trip but when I’m travelling, I always carry energy bars, sachets of protein powder, almonds and some fruit in my hand carry!

  6. First of all..that placemat. That is an offence from a non coffee lover! πŸ˜‰

I take that back…I have newfound respect for you for taking a photo. Promise me we can go there. Please. It better not close down like Laura’s burger joint.

    • I know, haha! Mom gave them to me. She also always offers me coffee, even though I don’t drink coffee anymore since about 10 years. Sigh.

It won’t close down! But now you have to book a flight.

  7. Sarah says:

Next time I won’t read your post when I still have to sit for one hour at the office before lunch…everrything looks so yummy! I would have chosen both desserts. And I always pack snacks no matter where I go, you never know! Even at the office, I have more food and tea than files in my drawer!

  8. i will always choose chocolate! Every time πŸ˜‰ And omg that seafood platter. i basically want to dive head first into that!

  9. Hot damn that’s a lot of seafood. I thought the platter Joshua & I were served in Greece was big… but nope! This restaurant has taken the crown for biggest meal for two. Haha.

  10. cottercrunch says:

i think you could have fed us all with that! dang, we should have crashed that trip. Seafood heaven! ps. i’m part German–> YAY GERMANY

  11. Chocolate. Duh. I wish I’d been there to “help” you eat all that. πŸ˜‰

AND here you do drinking red wine again!!!

  12. All your food looks so delicious especially the oatmeal with chocolate chips! I really enjoyed looking at all the food porn! You had a lot of it this time!

Who thought I would ever write again. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
