ANYWAYYYYYYS. We know by now that Wednesdays are for Food Parties.
Sooooo, I still owe you some #foodporn from my trip to the Swiss Alps – and there is some, believe me!!
Let’s talk Friday. Before Tim arrived I sat down in my new cosy kitchen and enjoyed good old eggy oats with blueberries. On our road trip, we just snacked on fruits, hardboiled eggs and I brought these Roobars I found at the Whole Foods store the other days. Nothing new – pretty much the same ingredients like all the energy balls we create (yeah, we all prefer balls to bars, right? Tehehe.) – but they were a nice sweet organic treat nonetheless.
I was starving by the time we got ready for dinner and before chewing my arm off, we attacked the salad bar. Without a clue what would expect us AFTER that starter. I have to include here that I forgot my phone in the hotelroom and kind of freaked out when I realized that we ordered seafood. ‘I NEED to have a pic of that seafood, gosh, I have to go back and get my phone.’ – Talk about a big understanding for a #foodblogger – Tim ran to the room and got my phone. Good man. #bloggerproblems
Believe me, you will understand in a second why it was SO important to have my phone. We got offered the option to have a seafood and fishplatter for 2 (TWO) persons and sides. And then this arrived.
Bahahahaha. I COULDN’T stop laughing. I was like WHAT THE FAAACK??!! WHERE are the other 8 persons who are supposed to eat this with us?? LOL. Ok, we sent back all the potato stuff (I had 4 wedges, cause I LOVE potato wedges and I tasted the Risotto. It was heaven.) but we ate ALMOST the WHOLE plate. Well. We didn’t manage to eat all the FOUR whole seabass and trouts….but we demolished all the salmon, prawns and about 2/3 of the fish and the veggies. It was holy DAMN good!!!
Wine was needed.
Without even asking we were served dessert. I was about to explode. Tim capitulated, but I ate both of the chocolate creams. Yes, both. I think I was even ready for a third round. It was #foodgasm. I also had the kirsch that was served (without ordering) with the coffee. I don’t know what kind of impression we made, but they somehow felt they need to feed us up – OR they thought we are used to amounts of food like this. Whatever, I had it all. No regrets.
I packed some of the snack collection for the hike. You know you are a foodie when your hotelroom has a home-brought snack bar.
There was a nice dinner with vegeterian sushi as a starter followed by grilled chicken breast&veggies (for me) and Saffron Risotto for Tim. I forgot my phone in the room. Damn. Tim got drunk, I drank water. Fun times🙂
After the run on Sunday morning we had breakfast (clearly) – I love a good breakfast buffet even more after a nice run. No pic, as it was the same like the day before!
We arrived back in Basel on Sunday afternoon and headed to Crossfit in the evening. Tim is a personal trainer but never did Crossfit before. Well, I needed to change that, obviously. It was a great class, and I hit a new PR – 2x 20 KB snatches with 16kg in the WOD!! Loved it. That was it:
2 rounds of:
40 Sumo Squat High Pull (KB)
20 KB Snatches
10 Push Ups
10 Sit UPs (or so – can’t remember)
And then it was time for the final soccer game. Of course Tim was beyond excited as the Germans were playing. I was semi-excited and happy to sip on my protein/oats shake and a gin-tonic for dessert. Booze is dessert, right? I think so.
More important: Breakfast on Monday morning.
Later on, we strolled through Basel and before Tim left for Berlin, I cooked up a quick early-dinner:
