MIMM – Goodbyes and Hellos

7. July 2014 by swissfitchick

Hey hey heyyyyy!!!! Cheese-us, I feel like I’ve been away from blogging since aaaaaages. So sorry I just disappeared without a word of goodbye, for not reading ANY blogs or leaving nice and dirty comments. THIS move was by far the craziest and believe me, I already moved a lot and crazy before.

This post will include MANY pics, so I try to shut my mouth for the major part (we know that’s a difficult task for me). Hang on – I need tot tell you that there are NO pics food or fitness related – cause my world was different for the last few days. I shut up now. Wait – WIAW will include pics from the moving weekend! Shshshshsh, now.

Wait, not yet. That’s my new kitchen. Empty. It’s huge. I am SO excited. This will be the place where new recipes for you guys will happen. I promise, ONE day there will be a new recipe šŸ™‚ kitchen I gathered all my stuff from my Basel home on Wednesday and Thursday and moved it over to my new home. It’s only one block away, so you bet I transported my bed on my bike. Yep, that’s how I roll. Come on, you know it. My bike, my life.

People on the streets stopped and stared. I think they even cheered us on. What a show.

There's a pillow lounge in the back.It will grow, I ordered about 14 additional pillows. (4)

Thursday night, Momma, me and Sylvia worked till late. There is just always so much to do. You bet I still hit the gym at 6am. I just had to GET OUT!!

In the afternoon, Momma and I were sucked in by a black hole called IKEA. Thank God I do Crossfit and have muscles. This would have been quite tricky otherwise.

Saturday, the actual move happened. Sandro packed all the stuff I stored at his parents place all these years the night before, I drove with the car to Zurich on Saturday early morning and then we started packing together with our friends. It was sad. Sandro and me both suffered. But well, you can not spend a day without some good laughs.

1-person-home-stuff. Sure!

1-person-home-stuff. Sure!

Arriving in Basel, the explosion took place.

MoveAnd you know what? It’s seriously an issue, when you live in 2 homes like I did for the last 2 years. I have now 2 hair straighteners, 2 blow dryers, 2 kitchen shelves, and last but not least…….A HELL OF A TON OF CLOTHES. I was given several and endless sermons by my Mom and Sylvia as to how beyond off base my amount of clothes is. We still haven’t solved the situation with the shoes and all my winterclothes are in the basement. What can I say? My jeans, my life. Considering that my legs and my butt are my favorite bodyparts, I need a lot of jeans. Cause let’s be honest, a good pair of jeans flatter every bootey.

So you see, there is another dresser with workout clothes, tank tops and normal shirts. Heyyyyyy. I lived in 2 homes. It’s a reason.

BUT the most important thing was actually that my precious peace of furniture arrived on time. Ever since I saw the part of SATC when Aidan gave Carrie that huge leather chair, I wanted one. And now I have one and I am in LOVE. It’s already my favorite spot in the appartment.

ChairI also have a Ninja Blender now including an effing 13 kilo transformation thing for Switzerland. Sandro tried it. I flew from the kitchen, cause I was terrified that we will all burst into flames the moment he turns it on. IT WORKED. It might be a little complicated tearing this freaking thing out for every smoothie – for that I still have my Magic Bullet, thank God – but I can NOT wait to make nutbutter again!! Prep yourself for awesome flavors!! BLenderAt the end of the day I had a headache, I couldn’t listen to anyones questions anymore not to mention my answers came out arbitrarily and nonseniscally. I felt kind of odd (read: gross) in my clothes which I wore since 2 or 3 days in a row. My brain was fucked, my legs sore, I felt dizzy, I was sticky, sweaty and smelly and I needed wine. A BIG glass of wine. WineThe next morning I went for a run. Trailrunning, 1 hour – gosh, it was BLISSFUL!! It was so good to clear my head off of all the craziness, the thoughts of doubts, the sad goodbye, the new beginning. Run SunriseVanessa and Stefan brought me their old table in the afternoon. What wonderful people. I am so happy with this table. Of course it gets shabby-chiced, cause I love it. Table TableIt’s not finished yet. Obviously. BUT, I am ALMOST done with the setup. My couch arrives next Thursday, the dresser for the hallway arrives next month and next week I will get the lights, shelves and pictures up. So far so good.

I took pictires for you to see. To time this all perfectly, the weather acted up 5 minutes before I started photographing, so that pissed me off. Who cares, I just carried a lamp with me under my arm in every room (fun image. I swear.) to get at least a little cosy light. Can’t beat sunlight. That’s ok. I will make a silly video once everything is perfect. I know you can’t wait for it.

Err…me. First selfie in new appartment. Hi. (Still wearing the same gross sweaty outfit)

That’s iiiit!! Did I tell you that I have no TV nor Internet yet? I love it! (Lie. It SUCKS). I am at the office now, Sunday night, 10pm. Sigh.

And here’s a shout out to my BEST Momma in the world. Seriously, you can not BELIEVE how much she helepd me with all that craze and I am SO thankful.

That’s not it yet. Sylvia – she definitely is my dearest and closest best friend and I am so BLESSED to have her by my side! She spent hours and hours in Zurich and now in Basel to help me pack, unpack, setting up everything and especially sorting out my MOUNTAINS of clothes and organizing them in my closet. Besides that she was there when I had my breakdowns cause of this situation which is still not the easiest for me. Saying goodbye to Zurich and all my dreams there wasn’t easy at all and I have a hard time letting go. THANK YOU my sweet friend, you are my lifesavior, love you!! Sylvia & LucieIf you made it till here, congrats!! Happy Monday, I hope it is a marvelous one for you!!

How was YOUR weekend?

What did you set up first when you moved?

You did it girl! I’m so proud of this post, but your new life begins right now. Enjoy your new space and I can just imagine you watching Carrie Bradshaw on redial. A big kiss from Sheffield, I’m home for the Tour De France cos you know how we love our bikes x

  2. I missed your face! But I’m glad to hear that you’re move went smoothly, even though I can’t believe you moved a BED by BIKE. Girlllll, you crazy šŸ˜‰ Oh, and I’m seriously loving your new place — so, SO cozy. It makes me want to finally start putting a little more effort into putting some personal touches on my place.

  3. Wahooo congrats on the move- your new home looks super, Lucie…I especially love the bed spread! You’re making a trip to see you in Switzerland seem all the more inviting ;)! I’ve been wanting to get a new blender for smoothies/nut butter making and am currently contemplating the Nutribullet- you’re making me want to first look into the Ninja before making any purchase!

    Hi Lucie!

Nice place! So cute and cosy! And the kitchen!!! I bet you are going to spend hours in there!!
Enjoy this new chapter in life!!

  5. Actually pissing myself laughing because I just noticed the ‘Pick your word’ and legit the word that stood out was ‘chicken’ lololol!

Lucie, I am sending this post link to Niki- she is OBSESSED with redecorating and dressing up rooms (she will probably rant about it in a post) and she’ll be fan girling over this! Please be kind to the blender….please.

  6. cottercrunch says:

glad you are all moved!!! and love the look of the new place. but since you have two of everything, maybe i should come visit for a while, yes?

  7. Moving is EXHAUSTING! I just moved in with my husband and had to get rid of so much stuff! I hear you on the “two of everything” problem haha

  8. Happy to see you back and to hear that the move went well! I love the looks of the new place – can I come hang out on the pillow lounge on the balcony? šŸ˜‰ And that kitchen looks amazing!

  9. Hey you fashionista! I am totally in love w/ your home furniture (THAT CHAIR :)) and all your fabulous decor. I wish I could come have a slumber party with you. We could even act like teens & play dress up with your huge amts. of clothes & jewelry & take selfies in front of your mirror. Haha! Love the home though, girl. Now you & your momma can have morning tea (or smoothies) on your outside balcony šŸ™‚

  10. Welcome back, long lost Lucie*! The apartment is awesome and I can’t wait to visit you there. I don’t even know where to start commenting. Bright rooms, the balcony [I’ll miss mine], your living room [the table!], …
“Considering that my legs and my butt are my favorite bodyparts, I need a lot of jeans.” <- that's what I say about dresses and tights. I've lost count of the number but I go through so many of the latter there are never enough. Plus: different colours.
What I'll set up first in my new apartment will be my canopy bed. Fingers crossed it fits into the way smaller than my current bed room. If not I might have to turn the living room into a bed room. Then again there's still the kitchen as my second living room so all's well, right?
By the way: my phone died and I lost your number among others. Could you text it to me again??
Oh, and I didn't know you played the piano.
*did I mention I have a thing for alliterations? That and Swedish soccer players but you knew that one šŸ˜‰ .

    • Long Lost Lucie!! I love that!! I have a thing for Swedish Soccer Player too, because of you šŸ™‚
I am so glad I am not the only one with a shopping problem. I guess there are no shops in your new hometown? Ya know, when I come for a visit….it’s probably better cause 2 addicts on shopping tour – I don’t know šŸ™‚
      I text you!

  11. OMG – it looks amazing!!!! Amazeballs, even. šŸ˜‰ I love that coffee table. And the comforter (which you will hopefully do a LOT of what you love under).

I am so, so happy for you friends. I know this was not easy, but how nice to have a space that’s all your own. Even if you have WAY too much stuff. šŸ˜›

    • Hahahaha. STOP IT. I sent you an email regarding the comforter šŸ™‚

THANK YOU LOVE!! I am SO glad it is finally down and I can start feeling at home.
Too ,much stuff? What are you talking about?

  12. calista says:

Eeeeeeeee! I love your apartment. And you are awesome for moving a bed on your bike. You’ve got balls, girl. I love it! I can’t wait to see your new place all dolled up. I’m in love with your kitchen already.

  15. Oh my gosh every room looks so cute and personalized! I lovvve your kitchen floor – it looks so chic. I also took some time off blogging so I know just how weird it is to get back in the swing of things – lucky for you you have awesome pics to show for it! šŸ™‚

Who thought I would ever write again. Link in Bio. ā€š'In essence, love is the consistent embodiment of care, compassion, kindness, and joy toward yourself, your partner, and each other as two interconnected and supported beings. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
