Very Inspirational Blogger Award – 7 facts about me

20. June 2014 by swissfitchick

Happy Fridaaaaaayyyy!!!!

Such a LONG time since I posted on Friday. Short note before I start today’s post: Remember my Muffin Recipe from last week? Healthy, with bacon and a cheese spread. Like a traditional Swiss Cheese Pie. As I mentioned, my blog has been selected by to contribute a recipe for their World Cup infographic. ‘The World Cup Of Food’ illustrates food and drink fans will be enjoying while watching the football in their respective countries. Since tonight is the game between Switzerland and France, I thought this is the perfect time to share this. HOPP SCHWIZ!! The recipes from around the world look great and you can find my recipe here!!   ————————————————————————————————————–

I am torn between being excited for this weekend and being annoyed – I will spend it in Zurich, packing my stuff to move to Basel, finally. YES. After weeks of being sad and whiny about my break up and moving out, I am on a point where I feel happy about where I am today and I am glad when I finally moved. I want to leave this part of my life behind me and enjoy my ‘new’ life in Basel. The big move will only be on July 5, but Sylvia – my best Bestie ever – will help me to start packing my clothes (a nightmare) and kitchen supplies this weekend. Besides this less than fun task, we will enjoy a girlsweekend with watching soccer, spending time at the lake and chasing some guys bargains downtown. Much Love to this girl, she’s my lifesavor!!

Today’s post happens thanks to one of my lovely readers and a beautiful blogger herself – Anoushé. Don’t you love that name?? I want a daughter called Anoushé. Who knows. She is a dancer and an absolute sweetheart – AND she lives in Switzerland too! I love when I find fellow Swiss bloggers. Anyway, she nominated me for the Very Inspirational Blogger Award – how sweet of her!!

How it works:

  1. Thank and link the amazing person who nominated you.
  2. List the rules and display the award.
  3. Share seven facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know how they’ve been nominated
  5. Optional: Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.

Ok, 7 facts about myself. I am sure this is the thing you wanted to read on this Friday. Hm. Let me think.

1. I know I said this before, but I love the story so much, so I will tell it again – I was named after my Grandma. She was called Lucie Pfaendler too. I never met her – she died before I was born. When Momma was pregnant with me, she promised her to call the baby Lucie in case it would be a girl. Clearly, I am 🙂

2. I have a thing with travelling abroad and working there and then getting homesick and coming back. Back in school, I went off for 1 month to work on a farm. Like a real Swiss farm up in the mountains where I had get up at 5 to milk goats in order to make our own cheese. Where I made hay from 9am to 11pm all day. Where I had to chase a herd of cows, goats and calves to bring them to another alp. Yes!! Blondie chasing cows and goats with a wooden stick in my hand! And yelling at them! Create this picture in your brains people. It’s priceless. I did a good job though 🙂 The very original Swiss Life.

I worked as a Flight Attendant for Swissair, where I was abroad usually 5 days in a row all over Europe, or 3 days oversea for a little more than a year. I absolutely LOVED it.

I travelled to Berlin for 7 months to work for my social work studies. I worked with criminal young men – coaching them to build up their future in a ‘normal’ life.

I also went to the Philippines for 3 months to travel around and to do development work. I worked with the little ones, painted the roofs of the school buildings and created schoolmaterial. I lived in a hut with very limited water and electricity. Best experience of my life.

3. I snore sometimes. While sleeping or when I have to laugh really hard. So attractive.

4. I LOVE sarcastic and silly people. It’s my favorite sense of humour. I also find that the sense of humour is one of the most important condition for me to find a man attractive. If he can not make me laugh, then I die in boredom. I don’t even care about his looks if he is not funny or silly.

5. Speaking about laughter – my brother could tell you STORIES about my laughing fits. ‘You should experience my sister’s giggles – like when she REALLY giggles. Seriously, she’s nuts. This is NOT normal.’ I think it can be a little disturbing at times, too. Ya know, when I want to tell a joke and know the point (of course) but don’t even get till there with my joke, cause I die beforehand. So funny for the people listening (sarcasm). It’s loud, it’s excessive, exhausting and I have tears and burning abs and I snore. I like it though. Laughing is good. Here’s a very short and very HARMLESS version of it – I obviously look at a very funny picture on my phone.

6. I am a Crossfitter and I love to lift ad doing Yoga. But I love to balance things out at times. I love to Snowboard, Dive, Running or doing crazy things like bungee  / bridge jumping / Sky Diving.

7. There are some minor unimportant things in life I don’t like:

– If someone takes a picture of me while eating. Let’s face it, these pictures always look superstupid.

– Going to the box/gym in workout clothes only to realize I forgot 50% of my ‘real life clothes’ at home. Aka underwear. And then having to go to work commando or braless. Happened. More than once. Fun times.

– Men who have a cold. I get SO worried cause I think they are about to die (according to their behavior) when in reality, they have a freaking damn little snuffle.

– Disrespectfulness and judging people.

– Frozen food and drinks. Hurt my teeth. Yeah, no Ice Cream.

– Everyone who can not drive. If you can not drive, don’t. Let us good drivers alone on the streets, tks.

– The Prowler. It’s not even disliking, it’s hating.

It's totally fine if he does it. I can sit and stare. Much better.

I don’t like the nominating part of the awards, so all of you, please feel free to grab the symbol and tell us 7 facts about you!!

Happy Weekend!!

Tell me 2 random facts about you!

What’s one thing you DON’T like?

Ever travelled and worked abroad?

xxx Lucie

I love this post so much!!! You have the BEST laugh! I love those side-splitting laughs so much where you laugh so hard you can’t breathe. Let’s see…two random facts. 1) I grew up on ranches in Colorado and Nebraska. At one point in my childhood, our nearest neighbors were nine miles away, we had to drive 60 miles to the grocery store, and I had four other kids in my 4th grade class. 2) I don’t like cake all that much. I much prefer the frosting, so just give me spoon or two of that, please.

I don’t much care for people who suck my energy away because they need my serenity. At some point, you have to find your own serenity within yourself.

I’ve traveled abroad once. I went to Scotland about 14 years ago and it was heaven. I didn’t want to leave! And I was miserable when I came back because I knew there was more to the world than what I knew and I wanted to see it all. So far, I haven’t made it very far, but I did make it from Nebraska to California, so that’s something!

    • I LOVED to read all this!! Your childhood sounds like such an adventure to me!! I can not imagine huge distances like that, Switzerland is so tiny and everything is so close by!
      FROSTING!! YES! 🙂
I’ve been to Scotland too, it’s really amazing!

  2. Your life is so frigging cool!!!! Amazing adventures and an awesome laugh – what more do you need! And pfffft, hate the prowler too. EVIL thing.

Ha, travel. I feel I’m cheating on this one as I live in Buenos Aires (only a few more weeks left though!). Before university I travelled for 5 months around Venezuela, New Zealand and Fiji. Also, when I was rowing more seriously when I was younger I was lucky enough to travel lots – France, Spain, Belgium, Tunisia, USA – it was awesome!

I hate milk. Like really hate it. It makes me want to throw up. When I was little we had to drink a bottle of milk every breaktime before we could go out to play, so I obviously never got to go and play until my dad wrote a letter to my school basically saying “stop making my daughter drink milk and let her play”!!

    Have a great weekend 🙂

    • Gosh, I am so jealous of all your travel experience Pip!! I wanna go to Fiji!
Hahaha, I know that breaktime milk, we had the same! It was SO much, my belly was always completely filled with a milkbaby, gross!

  3. Anoushé says:

You are the sweetest! Did you know that my name means Happiness? 🙂 Totally rooting for your daughter to be named Anoushé 🙂 I would be more than honored!
I loved reading your 7 facts.. they are just so real and your character really comes through in the way you write. Especially loved the whole chasing animals thing – I would totally have done that too – while laughing hysterically cause that’s just how I roll 😉
Good luck with your move to Basel! Sad you are leaving Zurich aka the prettiest city of the world, but hopefully we will still meet up one day for a drink by the lake 🙂 xoxo

    • I read that in your blog about your name and I LOVE it! Seriously, it’s one of the most beautiful names I ever heard.
Totally going to have a drink by the lake one day!!

      • Anoushé says:

Awww now you are making me blush 🙂 I’ll let my parents know they did good with the name choice 😉
That would be awsome! Can’t wait

  4. Khushboo says:

Hahah about bad drivers…love it! More than that, loved learn in more about you Lucie! So excited for your move! Although I am not named after my grannie, she did pick my name after coming across it on a flight when reading a magazine. One thing which drives me nuts is racism- ain’t nobody got time for that!

    • Oh I love that story about your name too! Grannies are the best.

And I agree about racism – I am always shocked that it is STILL such a big issue in this world.

  5. I LOVE the infographs from all over the world- and of course my Swiss Chalet’s entry 😉

Your job history which is amazing and epic on an International level is part of you I truly adore love about you- that is something we share and will drink over some sangria in MARCH!

I Just noticed you have a vlog…..okay, Bloglovin, what are you doing AGAIN

  6. Congrats on being part of that infographic lady, that’s awesome!
And you have lived such an interesting life! I’ve never lived or worked abroad, but I think I’d really like to do it one day.

  7. Congrats on your muffins!!! Woo hop! I’m going to Pin it. 🙂

You’ve had such a fun life. So many experiences in such a short time! I agree on the prowler. That SUCKED!

  8. You worked on an actual farm, farm?! I would have killed to see that! Or even to have been there with ya ’cause that sounds pretty cool… at least for a little while. But I love that you’ve had so many awesome experiences and I love that you love life so much. Never change, mmmkay?

And congrats on having your recipe featured! That’s pretty darn awesome 😀

  10. That is so awesome that your recipe is featured!! Congrats!
All your traveling and working in different countries sounds like such an amazing experience. I love traveling (was even in Switzerland a bit this summer!) but have a hard time being away from home for very long.
And also you laugh is adorable. Just saying. 🙂

  11. cottercrunch says:

i love it!! congrats on the recipe! and i love your love for travel. I did the same when i was younger, but wasn’t a flight attendant. But i did live in africa, germany, france, quebec, new zealand, and brazil.

  12. What a perfect post for me to get to know more about you, you crazy adventure junkie with a side of snore/laughing. That was a fun clip.

Two things about me: I have three cats and I am hypermobile, which means really super flexible.

I don’t like bad drivers either. In fact, I’m toying with doing an entire post on it. Clearly, I have road rage. But at least I don’t snore/laugh. 😉

    • Aww cats!! I love them. BUt thy would be so lonely here. I am away way too much!
I want to read that road rage post!! I have road rage too – on top of my snore laugh. Lol.

  13. Gahhh you’re the cutest! I’m a terrible driver so I try to do everyone a favour and stay off the roads as much as possible!

  14. […] and I find it horrible. Call me a spoiled brat or a snobby bitch – I LOVE physical work, I worked on farms and in the 3rd world, but cleaning?! I hate it as much as the […]

Who thought I would ever write again. Link in Bio. ‚'In essence, love is the consistent embodiment of care, compassion, kindness, and joy toward yourself, your partner, and each other as two interconnected and supported beings. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
