Marvelous Shenanigans & Green Pancakes

17. March 2014 by swissfitchick

Good morning everyone!!

I hope your day is off to a great start! As much as I loved the past week with all the fun events, I am looking forward to some more structured days with normal brain function.

But let’s celebrate some marvelousness with a recap of my weekend with my office friends! Thank you Katie for the host!

I count myself very lucky to be part of this office and of this team and boss. We were able to travel to Valbella on the weekend to the residence of my boss. Before we left, I managed to absolve a great weightlifting session at the gym, followed by a massage. That was SO much needed.GymThe journey in the train was already a blast – think about 11 crazy people who take off on Friday after work to spend a weekend together. We were all excited and started with drinks in the train.

After our arrival and wandering through the house in astonishment, we headed out for dinner. It was one of the architect-girls’ birthday, so we had to celebrate. We started with salad followed by – guess what – Raclette. What else if you spend time in the Swiss Alps? BUT – I will save the food for WIAW! HammerofficeThe house is amazing. The first thing we did when we woke up the next morning was attacking the pool, whirlpool and sauna. If it wasn’t clear that we are people in the 20ies and 30ies, you would have guessed we’re a bunch of 13 year old school kids. Pool IMG_7183

After a good while we were starving and it was time to bring on the food. My boss and me made up a cooking show.
Cooking Eggs Cooking Eggs Of course eggs were on the mealplan. What else??

After being well fed, sledging was the plan. We walked for a while and enjoyed some beautiful views….

SnowI had my private sherpa with me 🙂

He was the brakeman (he’s a pro in real life – bonus) and I was the pilot. Good team. Christian But before we started the race, we enjoyed some sun on the top of the mountain with baileys coffee!! I am not a fan of cream at ALL, so I fed it to my Sherpa 🙂 But the coffee with baileys was soooo delicious. And then we hit the slope. And we won. 🙂 Coffee

It wasn’t a real competition of course, it was just so much fun. And everyone made it safely to the finish line! IMG_7057 IMG_7059 IMG_7056The next activity would have been hitting a coasting slide, but it was closed cause of some weather changes. We still had fun on the chairlift and with more walking.IMG_7166 IMG_7165

Around 5, we were back at the house for another pool/sauna session – and before we were allowed to sit down for drinks and food, we went for an hour snowshoes walk in the dark and snow. It was SO HARD, cause it was steep and the snow was wet – tallk about an intense workout! Snow ShoesWe had a great dinner out, with an awesome menu and location. Foodpics to follow! MenuI can not believe we stayed up until 1am after all we did that day. No wonder we had to sleep an hour more on Sunday – and enjoyed the pool for some waterball craziness unleashed the whole morning!! We had breakfast around midday and after chilling on the couch and cleaning up the house, we made our way back home.

Let me say, I am very, very, very thankful for all the shenanigans I was allowed to be part of this week. The Survivalrun, The Fasnacht, this Snowweekend….I was surrounded by so many amazing, wonderful and fun people and I was lucky to be able to spend time with them, on beautiful places and with perfect weather. I say this, cause I know this is not a matter of course and I don’t know how I deserve all this. But I appreciate every single moment, embrace it and make it a precious memory.

But I won’t leave you without any food. Since it is St. Patricks Day I want to present a GREEN recipe which I will link up to Davida’s ‘The Great St.Patrick’s Day Green Food‘ host! I can not wait to make these again next weekend…..I didn’t have pancakes in forever and these taste delicious AND are green! Pancakes

3 eggwhites

1 scoop Protein Powder (I used Growing Naturals)

2 tbsp greek yogurt

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 handful spinach

Blend spinach, eggwhites and Protein Powder.

Mix in Greek Yogurt, baking powder and spices.

Cook in skillet on low heat – decorate with your favorite toppings! IMG_3424 Pancakes Pancakes

That’s it for today my friends, have a wonderful start of the week!!

Did you ever walk in snow shoes?

Tell me one marvelous thing you’re going to do today!!

What an incredible weekend!! So cool that you work with such great people!!
We love Raclette!! Some friends of ours spent several years in Germany and introduced us to it. It is our Christmas Eve tradition now and we do it when our boys have friends over. We like to turn it into a competition – who can make the best steak, shrimp, chicken…

  2. What a fun looking weekend! Once I’m done school and actually in a career, I hope whatever company I work for has weekends like this…it looks awesome!
And I’ll be hitting the bars with friends for St. Paddy’s today…should be interesting, to say the least.

  3. I’m glad to hear that you had such an amazing weekend, hun! You certainly deserve it ❤ I went snowshoeing a few times when I was in school, and yeah — that sh*t's intense. That and cross-country skiing are winter sports that I just don't enjoy. Sledding, though? I'm all over it 😀

    Happy Monday! And St. Paddy's!

  4. Lucie I LOVE how close you and your coworkers are- are these the people who didn’t like kabocha? Lucky they can be forgiven for being a blast in a (Swiss) glass.

What I also find amazing is you have crazy working weeks with them and offset it with crazy partying. Next time, I better be invited.

    • They actually LOVED the kabocha!! Unfortuntely, cause I hoped I could eat it on my own.
And yes – it’s amazing how we can balance out the worklife and the partying. I love it.

  5. Yes mam, you truly are blessed – as is everyone else for having you in their life. Everything about your week long celebration sounds FANTASTIC and SO MUCH FUN! I’d love it if you told your boss to hire me. I’ll tell Joshua we need to move now. 🙂

  6. Sounds like an awesome weekend! I’ve never tried snowshoes…currently I’m majorly missing skiing as it has been FOUR years!! Got some catching up to do…
I wonder, do you think there is a substitute (consistency wise) that I could use for the protein powder? As it’s pretty hard/expensive to get hold of out here but I’d love to try out those pancakes!

What à fun weekend!!! You are really lucky to have coworkers and boss like this! Work hard, play hard ;-))

  9. It’s always nice to get back into your routine after a fun weekend. I’m glad you enjoyed it, it looks like an amazing time! I love adding spinach to my pancakes, you can’t even tell it’s in there.

  10. Julie says:

Awesome pictures! Looks like a fantastic time. I need to get to some snow! Great idea adding spinach to the pancakes.

  11. Sorry I’ve been MIA! Let’s just say your alter-ego Elizabeth came out to play in NYC…

The pancakes look fab! After making green pancakes myself I have determined that even though you can’t taste the spinach it makes them better. IS that weird? Whatevs I’m adding it from now on anyway!

Ummmm can your boss hire me? K thanks.

    • I think I need to talk to my boss so he can hire a bunch of you adorable ladies. How much fun would that be.
And deal – I will add spinach to my pancakes in the future too. Green is just so much more fun to eat!!

Who thought I would ever write again. Link in Bio. ‚'In essence, love is the consistent embodiment of care, compassion, kindness, and joy toward yourself, your partner, and each other as two interconnected and supported beings. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
