When you read this, I am either sleeping, waking up to get dressed for – CARNEVAL. FASNACHT. YES!! It’s that time again!! If you read my blog for longer than a year, you remember the Posts I told you about this tradition here in Basel and how fun it is. But also, how it wakes up my anxieties. Last year I only participated for 1 day – this year I am going Monday and Tuesday, 2 days. I am excited and I cross fingers, that I will manage to let go of any negative thoughts and fears and just enjoy. I am optimistic!!
I will post some pics later in the week so you get an idea of how weird we are around here.
But first, let’s have a look at the last few marvelous days, since I’ve been away from blogging toooo long! After I found full trust back in my body and that it is healed (the back) I went to Crossfit Wednesday and Thursday. We had Benchmark week, which means a test of maximal weight, which is done every 3 months. I did very well with benchpress and pullups (2 unassisted pullups, max. weight benchpress was 57,5kg) but I definitely need to work on my backsquat (ass to grass is SO hard!!) and my deadlifts (75kg). My new Crossfit friend Vanessa lifted 150kg doing the deadlift – so AMAZING!! We met at Crossfit and became friends immediately – and then we found out that we are neighbours – she lives across the street! Means we cycle together to the box. How cool is that?? It’s SO much more fun to go to Crossfit class together.
Friday and Saturday was easy and spent with the man. We don’t have a lot of time together currently, so I’m saving those precious moments. We made amazing Bison steak and salad on Friday night. Plus a Dessert with a little bit of everything – cause I can never decide what I want for dessert.
And it was spring!!! We have incredibly warm temps right now and I just love it. I spent some time in the kitchen and cooked up a trial for Davida’s St. Patrick’s Day link up. GREEN Pancakes. I already have a recipe for green pancakes, but these look even greener.I also prepped my food for Sunday!! Survivalrun. OMG. I was nervous I must say. I never did one before and I had no idea if I was fit enough. So I wanted to make sure I fuel right and I have something yummy with me for my drive home.
Since this post will be way too long if I’d add all the pics from yesterday, I postpone the recap for tomorrow so you can go ahead with your week – watch out, Sandro took some great shots!!
Have you ever been to a carneval before?
What was the highlight of your weekend?
