Know that song?

One of my favorites. And it kind of fits to our last week – christmas day and boxing day were definitely FILLED with rain. It was pouring like there’s no tomorrow and the people in the Alps were buried in snow.

But then, on Friday morning when I cycled home after the gym, it looked like this in Basel:

Basel BaselBeautiful. And marvelous. Happy MIMM!! Thank you Katie!

So, to be honest, I don’t even have so much to tell you about this weekend. As mentioned, it was VERY quiet after the christmas week and with New Year’s ahead. I had some good food of course….

Speaking of workouts: After Friday’s Kick Ass legday (SO SORE *whinewhinewhine*), I did a Yoga Class on Saturday morning with my Baron Baptiste DVD on our massive TV. I’m kind of thankful that my man thinks we need a cinema at home. As crazy as this monster is, it’s pretty darn fabulous too.

YogaThe only little irritating point here was the topless and hairy-chest men doing that Yoga class. Is that marketing? Jesus. Not so sure about that. Maybe it’s because it’s a few years old…..a few outfits of the Yogis made me raise my eyebrows as well. But remember – inhale….exhale…..Hairy_Chest_Fake_51459f6213f8dOh my. So sorry. I had to. Bbbbbbaaaaahahahahahah 🙂

Ok, I digress – another workout happened on Sunday morning. I did weights (triceps, biceps, abs and HIIT) and then Sandro and me went for a nice and short run. The sun was out again and it was breathtaking.Lake1 Lake IMG_6032 Lake2

After breakfast, we finally started and finished a project that was on the list since months now – trimming my old kitchen table from a fairly ugly brown to shabby chic white. This table is one of my dearest memories of my childhood – it used to stand in our kitchen and I ate my breakfast there as a child every single morning. Also, there are tons of pics of my brother, me and Mom baking and crafting on this table. But my most precious memory are the talks with Dad – when we were alone for dinner, we used to have cold food (Deli meat, cheese, bread, yogurt, tea) and then sit there at this table until late night and talk. If I had a wish, I would want these evenings back.

Soooo, that’s it! We will be heading to Basel this afternoon to be ready for the pre-new-year’s-party tonight! Can not wait. Tomorrow will be non existent. But I made sure you have something to read 🙂

One very important thing to add – check out if you won the NuNaturals Giveaway!! If so, then please email me your full name, address and emailaddress on lucie.pfaendler@gmx.ch!!

Did you ever prepare/paint furniture at home?

Vintage or modern? I love a mix of both. And both is a must in my appartment.

Do you think topless or belly-free outfits are appropriate in a gym or class?

Your pictures are gorgeous – love the water!!!
Your painted table looks awesome – brand new!!!
We have painted furniture – I don’t mind if it’s simple like a table but intricate things aren’t my favorite!!

  2. Would you mind sharing some of your gorgeous weather? It’s hard for me to believe that there are places in the world without snow on the ground when we’re currently getting buried over here. Maybe I just need to come live with you for a while 😉

I love mixing old and new pieces, and I love that you repainted that table from your childhood. I’ve changed the paint on a few of my pieces as well, mostly because I’m super picky and it’s hard for me to find a style AND colour that I’m happy with — usually it’s either one or the other.

  3. Those photos are just breathtaking! I love morning sunshine, its the best ever! I am so happy you were able to upcycle your table, I love making old new it makes your home so much more meaningful and I am sure everyday you use your table you will always have those fond memories! Happy New Years beautiful! xo C

  4. The table looks awesome! I’ve never tried to paint or change up any of my furniture…I’m too afraid of messing it up!
And as for the topless/midriff shirts and whatnot…I always give them the side-eye. Don’t really want to see that! My gym has a policy against it though, so people for the most part adhere to it.

  5. Just hearing the reason for why the table is so sentimental to you melts my heart. I know your Father isn’t here on Earth with you, but just know he is always here in spirit. I can also guarantee you 100% that he’d be so proud of you. He would brag about you to his friends. You truly would be his pride & joy in life! Keep smiling beautiful!

Such a beautiful memory to share with your father 🙂 The table looks fabulous, and hopefully will be the source of more good memories to come!

I admire your DIY creativity and initiative, I’m useless 😛

The hair-chest picture made me laugh then made me feel a little nauseous ;P I know it’s fake, but could you imagine *shivers*

The salmon looks delicious. I’ve purchased some old, good quality furniture and stained it but never repainted.

  8. Lucie…..I’m not usually one to demand things but I DEMAND you to do a tutorial on the omelettes you make. No joke, I have yet to come across a more beautiful and mouthwatering omelette. Seriously. You are an omelette queen.

I love the story behind the table…and now that it is all done up, you can think of papa…that, or some ham. 😉

    • Awwww, thank you Darling! (sorry, what’s the male word for corny-darling? superman?)
I will think about your demand. I might have to request a fee in form of Australian pancakes for that. But oh well, yes, I might do a tutorial! Should be fun! 🙂

i think you have more to show than say. like.. um.. FOOD and Crafts! i shall call you mini martha!

  10. Love your little table! I love having old things around that remind me of my childhood. When my grandma passed away I was able to get many things from her house that remind me of my times with her and they are so special to me. Have a lovely NYE!!!

  11. All those landscape pictures are just gorgeous!! I want to come visit 😉
I love your table – you did a great job on it! I still don’t have my own house so I’m not sure if it will be more modern or vintage, but I really like the vintage look. I’ll probably end up with a mix though, especially at first when all I’m going to care about is finding something cheap. 😉
    Have a lovely week!

  12. My last comment didn’t post!! Anyway, this is what it said (I think haha):

yay! I cant believe I won! I emailed you 🙂
jealous of your weather! lets swap rain for minus freezing snow! happy new year lucie! x

  14. Unless it’s hot yoga keep yo clothes on! And even then the things people wear in hot yoga is kind of disturbing!

I have a horrible kitchen table that my boyfriend insists on keeping for our new place. Wanna come paint it for me? I’m a DIY fail!

Also your life is beautiful. You don’t even want to know what the slush and dirt outside my house looks like…
