Marvelous in my Monday – relaxing vs. productive

21. October 2013 by swissfitchick

Good morning friends!

I hope you are all well and recovered from the weekend. I definitely am, my weekend was very relaxing, but also productive – a combination I love.

Let’s make this Monday marvelous, shall we? Thanks to my favorite Diva!!

MiMM-2I must say, that my week wasn’t one of the best – you know what I mean, we all have these weeks. It was just rough, I was overwhelmed and I didn’t feel good physically. Enough things to stress me out a little and I was happy to be home in Zurich on Thursday night. Sandro was so sweet to take Friday morning off, so we had the chance to spend some time together. It was an absolute wonderful, fresh and sunny fall morning and we made one of my favorite things – a trip to the farmers market!

IMG_5294 IMG_5303 IMG_5302I figured, that the orange pumpkins I considered to be not as kabocha-y, are SO delicious and taste almost exactly like kabocha squash and they are to be found everywhere here! Which kabocha squashs aren’t, unfortunately. And I couldn’t be happier that I STILL found fresh berries!!

IMG_0959 1I had an appointment with a friend who was just lately in NY, and she brought me my favorrite stuff! I was SO happy, I am completely OUT of vega protein and my cooking sprays are almost empty too. Seriously, Switzerland, what’s the problem with producing cooking spray??!!

IMG_0964I used the rest of my ‘single’ Friday to decorate our home – I am well aware, this looks very winter-y already, but I absolutely LOVED the stuff they had at the store (it was in the FALL decoration section!).

IMG_1600Sandro was away on Friday evening and I splurged on a nice salmon meal….

Saturday morning I did some Yoga at home to recover my poor muscles. I am still obsessed with Tara Stiles 10 minutes Yoga Workouts.

Post Yoga: Eggy Oats – half Oats and half TVP, ground flax, eggwhites, tons of cinnamon, and the fresh berries from the farmers market. A sprinkle of almond slices and dried cranberries. The Almond Butter was topped on the oats post picture and a spoonful went straight into my mouth.

I went to see my friend who is at home with a broken foot – poor girl. I brought her a ton of books she needs to read (in my opinion) and distracted her with 2 hours of babbling at her. It was a nice girls morning!

Later in the afternoon, Sandro and my went for a stroll and some shopping downtown and went to visit my uncle who owns one of the nicest flower shops in Zurich. I am so proud and I love to drop in there and have a chat with him!

IMG_5312 IMG_5317It was a stay at home kind of night, with dinner and a REALLY old movie…..

I was excited for Sunday morning – I planned to take the Bootcamp class and Sandro joined me. Carola (the owner and trainer) planned a really cool circuit in the meadow right at the lake. It’s 5 minutes from our home and I loved it! Even though I was dead after this hour, it was so fun and the weather was still nice sunny and fall-y!On the way to Bootcamp

Sunday is Pancake Day……even better postworkout!

The topping is a mix of sugarfree syrup, almond butter and water. I LOVE it.

The weather got a little worse, so we decided to clean up our kitchen – oh my GOODNESS, this was SO needed. I can’t really admit how stuffed my pantry was and how messy everything looked! Now it’s like a different world – and I feel so clean 🙂 Our kitchen is really really old, but I kind of like it. It’s a cute granny kitchen. We also got this new shabby-chic shelf, which I LOVE!

I figured that we have a ridiculous amount of Swissair dishtowels from our times as Flight Attendants – #nostalgia! And of course pics from that time too….IMG_0971 IMG_1627

It’s on my bucket list to clean up one room each weekend this month or at least til end of November. I feel like some spaces are going to explode soon, haha!

That’s it, I wish you a marvelous Monday people!

Do you feel as relieved and ‘clean’ as me when you cleared out closet/pantry/rooms?

What’s your essential from the farmers market? I love if they have berries or parsnips, currently of course squashes and figs!

  1. Awwr girl I love your shabby chic kitchen! So, so cute. And I know what you mean about just feeling so much better after a good tidying session. I try to go through my pantry, cupboards, and fridge every couple of weeks to make sure nothing is cluttering up my space. I’m a firm believer that extra clutter leads to extra stress, so I try to keep things down to the basic necessities. Speaking of which… my essentials from the market are: sweet carrots, broccoli, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, and apples.

    Happy Monday, love!

    • Thank you girl! I love our kitchen too. It’s so old and cozy!
Oh my, you are SO good by clearing out every few weeks! I think the last time I did that kitchen-project was half a year ago. Whoops!

  2. Ah well done on the cleaning spree! I’m still fascinated that you were once a flight attendant- would love to hear more about it :). And just for the record, Swissair used to be my favorite airline to fly as a kid! That may or may not be because they used to distribute Smurf toys ha! My produce essentials tend to be zucchini, spinach, mushrooms, apples and berries!

    • Oh yes, I remember the toys!! It was a great part of the job to make all the kiddies happy. I loved my time as a Flight Attendant, but I am also glad to have a more structured life now 🙂

  3. Sorry to hear the week wasn’t as chirpy as your intended it to be- glad you and Sandro had some time Friday to spend together and enjoy the outdoors!

I wish I was more tidy and clean, but unfortunately I’m a typical guy when it comes to that…oops.

Produce essentials for me are cauliflower, zucchini and celery. Always!

every saturday morning I stock up.

  5. Looks like you have a super fun boot camp group…. I’m sure it makes the workouts a little more tolerable. I need to set the same goal…. clean up one room each weekend. I did this after the new year, last year and it made such a difference. It always makes me feel so much better when the house is tidied up!

  9. I just ogled your farmer’s market veggies. 😉

Love the TVP oats lately too. I think I ate it almost all least week!
