Friday Favorites – Start of the Insanity

6. September 2013 by swissfitchick

Yes, that’s right. I am going to ride the highest Pass of Switzerland.

Wiki says:’ Umbrail Pass (el. 2501 m.) is a high mountain pass on the SwissItalian border connecting Santa Maria in Val Müstair with Bormio in the Adda valley. On the Italian side, it connects to the Stelvio Pass road. It is currently the highest paved road in Switzerland.

No worries – I rode some Passes in the past – 4 of them, to be exact – but I am still scared to death. As much as I LOVE extreme challenges, it clearly is pretty mental.

More Insanity

I will be leaving to the Italian part of Switzerland later today, and we will start off tomorrow morning. Keep an eye out on my Instagram or Facebook – I will probably be posting some of the madness along the way!

It must be something in the genes….my aunt just absolved her 3rd (I think??) Ironman in Zurich and is currently located in Wales to do another one. She missed Hawaii by a few tiny seconds, argh! Still, I am so amazed and proud. For the record: Ironman = 3,8km swimming, 180km cycling, and running a marathon to cool down. Bahaha. And I am scared of a ridiculous hill.

But before I join this group of mad freaks pack my stuff, let’s see what happened this week.

A fresh pedicure. Let’s be honest, with a group of only men and me as the only woman, I just have to bring on some glamour. Where would we end otherwise beauty and fashionwise?? I don’t even want to think about it.

Things like this happen when I am bored. Google is your friend.

Only positives about AB! I knew it! Thank God Almond Butter is part of my life. Foto 2

Yeah. I guess here is room for discussion.

Favorite Find: Coconut Flour! There is a shop just a few doors next to my home in Zurich which sells only glutenfree products. It is the only place where I can find coconut flour, but they were out of it! Now it’s back and I want to eat it out of the container. It smells SO good.

Perfect for the pancakes, yes, these ones which you already saw 2 times this week. They will be on my breakfast tray this morning again!

Favorite event of this week: The man and my BBQ-picnic. There is this cute and beautiful fireplace up on the hill behind our house, where you have a stunning view. Every year on several evenings, we cycle up, packed with our food to make a little outdoor BBQ. I love it. The view…..

I’m looking forward to some time OFF this weekend. This week has been crazy, and despite the fact that it’s been a short one, I’ve been thinking it’s Friday for the past 2 days. I just want to go to the farmers’ market, do some shopping, and relax.

  15. Ash says:

I’ve never done anything too crazy race wise. I did a half marathon last year and am doing one again in a few weeks. I almost signed up for a relay race that would have involved running in the middle of the night (!), but it is the weekend right after my half marathon, and I just didn’t think it would be a great idea for a challenge right on the heels of my other race. Good luck with your challenge! I’m a recent follower, and trying not to go through all the archives and all recipes (while at work) is taking a serious toll on my self-control!

    • Hey, thank you for stopping by and your sweet comment!! ☺☺
Great job on the half marathons! That night race sounds awesome, but i think you will do good to give your body a rest weekend!

  16. […] survived! If you read Friday’s post, you know I took the challenge to ride the highest Pass of Switzerland – and I did. […]

Who thought I would ever write again. Link in Bio. ‚'In essence, love is the consistent embodiment of care, compassion, kindness, and joy toward yourself, your partner, and each other as two interconnected and supported beings. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
