Marvelous in my Monday – A party and a cycling tour

Hello Amigos!

I hope your week is off to a good start. It’s MIMM time on the blog today, so let’s celebrate some marvelousity with the diva and her family!!

Fall seems to approach slowly here and I am NOT ready yet! BUT, we had one of the last beautiful, warm summernights on Friday – perfect to celebrate 60 years my lovely Momma!

The pictures here don’t do the buffet any justice at all – it was absolutely amazing! It was a rich appetizer buffet – nothing else, but oh my….everything was so good and it looked delicious. The sister of my sister in law (got it :-)) created it and it was simply amazing.

Before I went to the party, I hit the GRIT class at the gym at lunch with my friend Oli.  I wore new Capri workout pants my Mom brought me home from her vacation. Love them! IMG_4677

Before GRIT:

Yeah, there is no way you don’t look like a sweaty mess when you leave this class!

Like every year, I will cycle over a pass with my bike with a group of friends this year, more exactly on September 7. Considering that I did not cycle outdoor so far and we will sit on the bike for about 9-10 hours that day (the pass is the highest in Switzerland), it is HIGH TIME that I start training. So I took advantage of the sunny Saturday morning before the big rain came and went for a 2 hours hill ride.

It was intense, but I did way better than I expected! I even cycled on the top top and had a stunning view as my reward.

Nothing exciting happened on Saturday, because it started to rain like crazy and I took a long nap to recover. I went to a BBQ party in the evening, which was a LOT of fun but I did not take any pics.

On Sunday, Sandro came back to Basel so we had a few hours to spend together – of course Starbucks and a yummy dinner was included.

AND we were talking about our next vacation! Before winter is coming back in town, we want to catch a last bit of summer – so end of September we will head off to Spain again! Of course I would LOVE to host some guest posts in these 2 weeks, so if you are interested, please let me know (!!

That’s all I got for you today! I am excited to start a new week today, let’s make it a good one!

Are you still up for BBQ’s or is the weather cooling down where you live?

Do you join group classes at the gym, and if so, what is your favorite?

What was your last workout you did?

  1. Ohh I don’t think I’ve ever tried GRIT – is it anything like Body Pump? If so, I’m not surprised you ended up a sweaty week ;)! Love that pic of you and your mom- you guys look SO alike (gorgeous that is)! The idea of having a 1-course spread is kinda genius…I especially love the basket of veggies, it adds a cute touch!

  2. Last workout I did was chest + triceps in my NEW gym! I am so excited to try the GRIT class as they have it here at my gym I just need to grab the schedule so I can get nice and SWEATY! I LOVE the bike tour so neat 🙂 Thanks for sharing LOVE + SHINE COURTSTAR

  3. That view IS stunning. It makes me -almost- want to do hill cycling, but then I remember how much I hate biking up hills, so I’ll stick to hiking instead 😉 And the weather is definitely cooling off here, but I’m more than up for BBQ’s still. Grilled chicken, corn, and peaches? Plus all the wonderful salads and promise of s’mores? I’ll never get tired of that.

    Happy Monday, love!

  4. So much great food and greta workouts! You look fabulous in all of your pictures, like always :D. Good luck with the bike training! Two hours of hills is no joke!

Both you & your momma are stunning! So happy you were able to celebrate her big day together. Everything about your weekend sounds fabulous. I never knew you were such a little biker (except to and from work). I must add, those bike shoes… very stylish 🙂 Ha Ha!

  6. The only classes I have taken at my current gym are spin classes, which I love and sometimes pilates which I also love. I haven’t done the strength training classes because that is something I typically prefer to do on my own. But I know that I should try it, I might like it!

I think it’s safe to say you had just about the PERFECT weekend! Your Mom is adorable & I’m sure she appreciated the party. And the views from your ride are stunning! Happy Monday Dear 🙂

  8. Wow – those views are stunning! I love your outfit at the party! So adorable. I’ve been meaning to do some classes at my gym but the times don’t fit my schedule. I wish they would do more morning classes – at like 6am!

  9. Those are definitely some gorgeous views! That sounds like it’ll be an intense bike ride…I’m sure you’ll love it though! I’m all for BBQs year round – in fact, in the winter my dad basically turns their back porch into a sun room (he puts up these portable glass walls) so BBQs basically go all year for them. Which is delightful.

  10. You always have the cuties outfits. I LOVE those pants in the first picture. The only class I’ve done at the gym is our Insanity class. I love it but I like doing my own thing. Today I was sore from my 13 mile run yesterday so I did the elliptical for 90 minutes and then some free weights. I used to be scared of weights, now I love them.

  11. What a fun weekend! Absolutely gorgeous photo of you and your mother! That buffet looks out of this world delicious and really pretty too. Definitely still hot here….. you can share that cooler air for sure. 😉

  12. Lisa says:

I haven’t tried any of the Les Mills classes yet, since it hasn’t come to where I live but hopefully soon!
You and your Mom look stunning in the photo.
Looks like a great weekend overall!
    That view is absolutely gorgeous!

  13. So excited for you and your bike tour!! I hope to do one in Europe next year on my sabbatical. I can’t wait!

  14. You and your momma are gorgeous! Love that outfit in your first photo! I’m all over those pants! LOVE!

    Great job on the bike!

    Fall…here already. Sigh…it’s almost true!

  15. Sarah says:

You ride hills on slicks? How do you even do that? 😉

Who thought I would ever write again. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
