WIAW#26 – are we still snacking sensibly?

3. July 2013 by swissfitchick

First WIAW of July 2013! Wow, June flew by, I didn’t even realize it. But I am not complaining, because July is the summer-month, and obviously, I love Summer.

And another fabulous thing is happening today, before we dive into the nutritional part of this post:

Sandro’s birthday!!

Happy Birthday my Love! You are finally one year older than me (again) ๐Ÿ™‚ Love you!

I am not sure if our Hostess created a new theme for this month, so maybe I am wrong with presenting sensible Snacks today?! Hm, ok. Let’s jump on it anyway.

To be honest, I am not snacking that much lately. With the summer-heat and being busy since I am back from vacation, it just didn’t happen that much. Also my appetite did not appear that dominant and I tried to listen to my body and just eat when I am hungry – which does not always happen, but I am working on it. But I DID have snacks here and there, which looked like this….

You may wonder, that you see hardly anything from the stuff I brought home from my vacation…..believe me. I don’t DARE to touch it. It’s so precious, and I just don’t want to get to the point where I am out of it – I think I had ONE Questbar since being home, haha ๐Ÿ™‚

But let’s look at some of my meals I had on….SUNDAY. Weekend-days tend to be a little differently structured, because clearly, I don’t get up at 5am as usual. So my first meal happens way later in the day and I end up with only about 2 meals instead of the 3 or 4 I usually have. Works for me, fine with me.

I was down at the lake at 7:30am on Sunday and did Interval Sprints for 20 minutes and steady jogging for 20 minutes. When coming home, I grabbed my weights and added a lifting session until I was ready for breakfast/lunch=brunch:

Topping: Pomegranate!

Snack in the afternoon happens to be unpictured – I made another smoothie with broccoli and berries and had some cold leftover grilled chicken on the side. Dessert:

After some blog-time and a lovely walk at the lake, it was finally time for dinner. I am craving these summer salads like crazy right now and this one was no disappointment!!

Spinach and Salad Greens, grilled giant Prawns. Scallops, Baby Tomatoes

So here you have it, nothing too fancy, but nonetheless REAL and good food!

Do you eat at different times on weekend days?ย

What’s the last recipe you made?ย

  1. Oh my god, I love seaweed salads! I’m half Japanese so eating salmon eggs and seaweed have been ingrained in me for a while ;). So glad you’re an adventurous eater too!

During the summer my eating times are definitely less restricted since I have an easier schedule by far ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. HAHA I glad I’m not the only hoarder around here! I am just the same with snacks I bring back from London- I really stock up but then am so stingy to use them because I don’t want to run out! Can you make me an omelette? Yours looks so deliciously fluffy!

    • Oh yes, hoarding is happening big time here.
And of COURSE, I make you an omelette, just hop over to Switzerland, you’re so close right now! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I had my first seaweed salad last week and it was amazing! I’m officially obsessed with them now!

  4. Jessie says:

Happy Birthday Sandro… you old man ๐Ÿ™‚ Ha Ha!

  5. Your seaweed salad looks strangely wonderful, Lucie!! Happy Birthday to Sandro! Enjoy your day!

  6. I totally hoard food too. I don’t wan tto run out! ๐Ÿ™‚ Be careful with those Quest bars though – they will dry out and be nasty. I did that with a chocolate one the other night. Depressing.

  7. Linz says:

mmm that seawood salad looks awesome as does those pomegranate seeds!!

  8. Danielle says:

I’ve never tried seaweed salad! I have to agree with you though, I snack way less in the summer cause it’s so hot! Smoothies become my best friend ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I -wish- I could eat at different times on the weekends, but my body refuses to let me sleep in so I’m usually up at 5 on Saturdays and Sundays, even when I don’t have anywhere to be. So.annoying. And the last recipe I made was actually a second batch of Rice Krispie treats… I told myself I wouldn’t because I basically have no control around those suckers, but I just couldn’t help it ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

  10. Lovin’ all your eats! That apricot looks amazing!

I pretty well eat at the same time every day ๐Ÿ™‚ Not on purpose…well, maybe sometimes lol

  11. Aren’t those cocoa roasted almonds the best?? I could eat a whole jar, which is probably why I buy the box with the pre-packaged portions ;).

My weekends are always a little bit off schedule with dinner a lot later but that is fine! Makes the weekends exciting for me to live a little and enjoy some late night meals ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks for sharing all of your yummy eats, I LOVE seaweed SALAD! Love + Shine CourtStar

Love the passion fruit tea from Starbucks, especially when it’s really hot. Your salad looks similar to the one I had last night. Hope you’ve had a great day!

  14. Lisa says:

    Happy birthday to Sandro.
Loveeee all your eats! I practically eat the same time everyday. Not exactly, but since I wake up early on the weekends anyways everything typically stays the same.

  15. I’m lusting over your pomegranate picture. I haven’t had one in months! They are one of my favorite fruits!

No filter. And no one ever tells me again bullshit like that CrossFit makes me look like a man. Left side, 1998 (19y), ~60kg, in an abusive relationship, fueled by a daily dangerous skinny drug cocktail which almost killed me and hours of cardio, no lifting and an oh so fucked up mindset. Right side, 19 years later today (39y), ~68kg (~8kg gainzzz!!). Recovered from 20 years of extreme disordered eating and drugs; and passionate about CrossFit. A healthy mind (pretty much at least ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰), a healthy body, freedom and a joy of life I had never experienced before. To be alive and healthy is a fucking miracle. I've always been a stubborn kid and I never half-assed things - contrary, I went and still go full-ass with everything I did and do - which also led me to extreme addictions. But it also allowed me to fight through suicidal thoughts and hurdles. Yet, if you want to overcome something so incredibly strong and stubborn like an Eating Disorder you have to be stronger and more stubborn and to want it with all your heart and to give everything you got. If you are willing to let go in favour of your health, then get your shit together, you can do it. It's possible, I'm the living proof. Trust your strength and never stop believing. And for fucks sake, no one ever goes trying to make me feel embarrassed about my muscles again. I'm not. I'm perfectly ok, just like everyone else. #nojudging #crossfit @crossfit #fightforit #muscles #health #trusttheprocess #believe #eatingdisorderrecovery #awareness #support #loveyourself #bodyimage #fullass #getshitdone #loveyourbody #recovery #addictivepersonality #drugs #overcoming #bulรญmia #anorexรฌa #sweatpink #fitfluential
