These were one of my favorite finds in the U.S.:
I may or may not have shed a tear when I did not find them anymore in the end and couldn’t take some of them home 😦
Thanks to my label addiction – I study every label for a felt hour – I knew what they consist of. So I started the experiment to whip up my own. They did turn out really good, especially with the addition of some RAW COCOA POWDER – some chocolate flavor just always is a winner, am I right?
Homemade Cocoa Coco-Roons
2 tbsp Almond Butter
2 tbsp Coconut Oil
3 scoops Protein Powder (you can switch this up with almond flour, oat flour or oatbran!!)
3 tsp cocoa powder
Your choice of sweetener: 4 packets of Stevia or 1 tbsp Maple syrup, or 1 tbsp honey, or 4 pitted and mashed medjool dates
Grated Coconut or Cocoa Powder
Put Coconut Oil (not melted!), Sweetener and Almond Butter in a bowl; mix well
Mix Protein Powder (or your choice of flour) and Cocoa Powder
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mash well together. You can also mix it in a blender, I stirred it with a spoon manually.
Mix until it turns into a sticky batter.
Form Macaroons and roll in grated coconut or cocoa powder.
Put in the freezer – they will harden and taste even better!!
They taste as good as dessert and also suit perfectly as a healthy, natural snack.
