I hope you are enjoying the guest posts so far! I am so proud to have all these brilliant ladies writing for my blog, such an honor! So this post will be about the eats here in New York, so get ready for a ridiculous FOOD PICTURE overload!! I think this is the longest WIAW I ever made. If you make it through, I bow to you. Ah, plane. Of course I had to celebrate the start of our vacation with some serious sparkles.champagneYou can imagine that I was extremely overwhelmed by the choice of food here. Everything that I saw flying around the American/Canadian blogworld and things I have to order online I can get here EVERYWHERE. Paradise.

When we arrived on Friday night, it was pouring rain in NYC. Despite the nasty weather, Sandro made sure I have my detox cocktail in the morning and ran out again to get me ACV, lemons, and organic juice. He’s such a sweetheart. I brought my base powder so my preworkout bombshell was set for the mornings.

acvMy first ‘food’ here was a green smoothie – and you bet since then I had this DAILY!!

As for workouts, I could convince Sandro to join with me the Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp. THIS. IS. GREAT. STUFF. We joined on Sunday at 9am in Central Park and on Monday at 6:30 am on the Brooklyn Bridge. I like to go to the gym, but I am more of an outdoor workout girl. And it was really intense. I SO loved it!!!

bootcamp1 bootcamp2 bootcamp3bootcamp5We just now extended our stay in New York for one more day because we love it so much and so we immediately signed up for a third session. I can not wait.

Breakfast and post workout meals changed daily, yet always included the green smoothie and some protein. Many of our meals we just grab at the store and mix up in the hotelroom or in the park to enjoy – cheaper and easier. Don’t worry, we also went out to eat, coming to that later!


Poached eggs with runny yolk and smoked salmon on an english muffin. Skipped the potatoes, they were too greasy.


Protein-Yogurt-Mess!! My VERY first chobani, mixed with Chocolate Vega Smoothie Powder in a hotel-papercup!! Chobani was plain plus strawberry/banana (yes, I mixed in 2. 1 was just not enough)

I love Chobani, of COURSE!! I felt so blogger-classy when eating this #sorrynotsorry πŸ™‚

Breakfast is always rather late, so until dinner I tend to go for a smaller meal or a snack instead of a real lunch. Like……


Coco-Roons. I have to take some of them home. Like 27846787567892 bags. I also love the almond/strawberry flavor, so good!


Kale Chips, of course!!! Since I failed about 20 (or 200) times making my own, I was longing to try these here.

If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that we headed to Coney Island on Sunday to catch up on some sun, sea and chilling! It was splendid weather and I am the happiest girl when I can be at the beach.

I brought a portable snack….my first think thin bar. A fan.

thinkthinAnd I definitely think that a little slice of pizza once in a while should be part of a Healthy Living Blogger’s Life – do you agree? Well, I do.

pizzaOn Monday, it was RAINING again – and what better to do than staying inside a HUGE mall and do some shopping? We went to Jersey Gardens Outlet and Sandro went cray cray with shopping, which is extremely unusual. I was more like his personalΒ  decoration, because all I bought was a pair of pretty cool CK glasses – otherwise I just followed him and nodded or shook my head when I was presented a new outfit. Oh, and Sandro is now called Samuel, not Sandro anymore. I think he likes it πŸ™‚ cksamuelBut now on to the serious stuff. One of my dear blogger friends, Sara recommended a healthy burger restaurant, BAREBURGER. I was very intrigued and we tried it. The great thing about this restaurant is, that it is completely organic. No fancy ingredients, no greasiness – just natural, plain and lean. The start was a bit , hm, let’s say….unfortunate – not in a bad way, but read on. Sandro and me were walking ALL day through the city, talk about MANY kilometers, walking for about 7-8 hours with some short water/coffeebreaks. We were SO knocked out and all the way to the restaurant I was picturing a cold Sangria, a sparkling champagne or a bitter fresh Gin Tonic. Arriving there, we immediately got a table and made our drink orders. Read: They did not have the permission to serve alcohol yet. Oi. Ok, that sounds now as if we were dependent on our drinks and addicted, but do you know that feeling, if you were looking forward to something specific, craving it, and then it’s not available? Well, there are definitely bigger problems in the world than us not getting alcohol that night, right. SO on to the food, which was AMAZING. We skipped starters and I went with a lettuce wrap ostrich burger. Let’s have a closer look:

On the side, I had a delicious fresh salad…

burger2Sandro went for the Bison Burger with a Whole Wheat Bun and Fries.

burger3You bet I stole a few of him….look at how HUGE they are!!

burger4What I liked the most was that you could choose all the ingredients for your burger from a list. So I could skip bacon, cheese and sauce and choose my favorite protein and fill up on veggies. The meat was PERFECT. I can really recommend to try this restaurant out if you have a chance!!

After dinner, we straightly walked into the next bar and this happened…..

drinkThe other nights, we took advantage to be in a country where a Whole Foods Market exist. If you live in the US or Canada, you may not understand this, but coming from tiny Switzerland, Whole Foods is Heaven, Paradise and an overwhelming place for me. I walked around like I was in the world for the first time and all I see are aliens. Gosh, it was fantastic and I wished SO bad that we had this in Switzerland too. Of course, we attacked the fresh salad bar twice this week. If you ever go, TRY the Detox Salad!! This was the BEST!!

  9. Wow, this really made me miss living in NYC. I loved all of it! I am glad you enjoyed it and kept up your fitness and eating.

    Its not easy on vacation, but I seem to workout more to account for the somewhat clean eating lol πŸ™‚

    • Living in NYC must be so awesome. I would love to stay longer!! And I know, it is difficult in vacation, but the choices here are so great it makes it easier to stay on track!

  11. Er WOW- I am suddenly dying (more than normal) to visit NYC…such yum eats! I’ve been meaning to try out ostrich meat for ages but am yet to find a place that sells it over here! Glad you are having a blast and soak up every minute of fun (and deliciousness) while you can!!!

  12. Alright, you’ve officially managed to make me super jealous. The last time I was in NYC was when I was around 4 or 5 years old, so I wasn’t exactly interested in any of the delicious eats the city had to offer… Now, though? Dying over here! And I can’t even imagine how overwhelming it must be to finally be able to try some of the things that you can usually only find on the pages of blogs. It’s bad enough being up here in Canada, but I know that Europe is even more deprived of the goods than we are.

    Hope the rest of your trip is just as amazing!! ❀

    • I know!! The last time I was here I was about 19 and the only thing that mattered to me was finding a place where you can get alcohol without the passport πŸ™‚ so this time I enjoy every bit of this paradise!!

    I typically don’t keep a very precise routine while I’m on vacation just because I try and enjoy it the best I can and don’t want my strict routine to get in the way. Haha.

    I know how you feel about Wholefoods! In the Uk there isn’t any near me..when I first went into one in the US i was in heaven; I went crazy ahah! Bought so much! Those pina colada kale chips sound delicious!! Also loving the look of that Bareburger restaurant.

I try to stay into a somewhat of a routine while traveling while still managing to enjoy some local flare. And bubbly on the plane is an AMAZING way to kick-off a trip!

    • The Bootcamp Workouts are so fun!! I love to try new fitness things when on vacation! And same for me – I stick to kind of a routine but also enjoy and go with the flow.
