WIAW#18 – What I ate Wednesday – Whole30 Week 3

24. April 2013 by swissfitchick

Good morning!

As you may know, I am in the middle of my Whole30 challenge and so far it is going really well! I will make a more detailed update once it’s over, but I have to say, it is easier than I thought it would be. On the other hand, I have to say, that so far my great expectations I had on the program didn’t fully meet yet but I will not judge before I ended the program.

So let’s see what was on the mealplan this Wednesday Tuesday, shall we?

I precooked my breakfast on Monday night, and went for one of my faves….

Once out of the pan, it looked quite fucked up different…..

Messed up Frittata

Messed up Frittata

It didn’t influence the taste thanks God, it was delicious. I added 3 tablespoons of coconut milk to it, which gave it the kick and a real good taste. I love Frittatas in the morning, they are filling, yet low in calories, balanced and I already get my first portion of veggies in.

Fresh Blueberries

Lunch was also premade, I always take it to work, so mealprep is a must. I had enough chicken and veggies to double the amount and split it into 2 lunches. I roasted the chicken first and spiced it up with rosemary, lemon juice and paprika.

SONY DSCAlong with it colorful veggies mixed with pecannuts and coconut flakes.

SONY DSCUnpacked and enjoyed:

Before going home, my boss sent me to buy babyclothes for our colleagues newborn. Let me tell you, that it is not the best idea to send a non-mother for this job. Besides having to search the internet on where to get babyclothes, I was completely overwhelmed by the variety and had not a clue where to start. Amazingly enough I managed to distinguish girl’s and boy’s stuff! After battling myself through the whole selection (and asking 36478 questions to the sales girl) I think I did a pretty good job.

The nightmare of every foodie – while making my way through the babyclothes piles, my hunger started to call my name, and I didn’t have a snack on hand. I just forgot to bring something and in my office drawer all I saw was a mess and a yawning gap. AH! Early dinner was a must! I was starving, you know, like almost chewing my arm off.

I went with the last 2 of my Cinnamon-Chicken-Mugcakes….I definitely think they are perfect for meal prep! Great to have on the go, or you could even freeze them.

SONY DSCThere you have it – What I ate Tuesday – my eats. And this is all going to be linked up on Jen’s blog for Wednesday’s Food Feast!!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!!

Ever had to buy a present you had no idea about?

What was your breakfast today?

  1. I love the look of the chicken muffins! I really want to make them, but I don’t have access to liquid egg whites, and I can’t bare wasting 7 egg yolks! Oh well, I can just wish! My breakfast this morning was cereal with almond milk and stewed apples. Maybe not the healthiest thing, but defintaly my favourite! x

Oh yum your frittata sounds yummy even if it did come out the pan a bit different haha; the chicken muffins sound delicious too! I hate it when I’m out somewhere and end up starving!! Looks like you did a good job at picking the baby clothes though; they look so cute 🙂
I haven’t had any breakfast yet..gonna have some cinnamon ginger chocolate orange oats later though 🙂 yum

    • Yes, that wasn’t the greatest moment, surrounded by baby clothes, stressed out and nothing to eat, no good haha 🙂 And thank you, I hope the little one likes them too!

  3. I think your frittata looks delicous! I love having things ready so that I can cook/eat in short order. Have a great WIAW!

  4. sloanepitman says:

OH EM GEE those chicken muffins. Gimme. You did an excellent job on the baby clothes, and had me laughing out loud. Love you!

  5. The zucchini fritata looks really good! I love fritatas too! You did a great job on the baby gift. I always have trouble buying for the men in my life. My dad, brother and hubby get lots of gift cards. 😉

    • Oh thank you Kim! I feel you. My brother is the worst, I think I gave him gift cards for the same store 4 times straight now – definitely need to come up with a new idea! 🙂

  6. Aww, shopping for baby clothes! I’d have totally swapped with you :). Not to say I wouldn’t have been overwhelmed by all of the cutesy in the store but it’d still have been fun. Definitely one more reason to have children later on :D. You did pick some cute items, though!
Am I weird for thinking that what you call a messed-up frittata looks pretty good?! Now I’d just need to veganize that …
    Happy Wednesday, Lucie!

    • Ok, next time you come with me and we can bask in the cuteness, haha 🙂
To make the Frittata vegan, you can use Chia eggs! Whisk 1 Tbs of ground chia seeds with 3 Tbs of water. Give it a few minutes for the mixture to become sticky and egg like. This will give you the equivalent of one egg!

  7. I could not even handle the cuteness of shopping for baby clothes. But I’ve never actually done it, so I probably would have been in the same boat 😉
Love the idea of adding coconut flakes to your chicken dish! Sounds yummy.

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Whole 30! Seems like you’re doing great with it. I love your baby clothes choices. So cute 🙂

    • I will make an update once it’s over! I am doing well, but for the expectation of ‘life changing’ I can not particularly talk about. We’ll see, maybe I am just too impatient 🙂

  9. Your breakfast sounds awesome!! Sometimes the not-as-pretty foods are the best tasting ones! 🙂

  10. You ate all your mug cakes already? I think it’s time to make yourself a new batch my darling!! **Guess what.. my internet randomly started working again.. WOO HOO!!**

    • Lucie says:

Well, I had only three of them, so you bet they were gone in no time haha 🙂
Woooot for Internet working – you’re a technology genius!!

  11. Savoury muffins sound like a great grab and go snack!

  12. Wow, cinnamon chicken mug cakes?! I have got to check those out. I hadn’t heard of the whole30 challenge. That fritatta looks so delicious!

  13. kepotts says:

Bahahaha, you’re effed up frittata reminds me of my sweet breakfast scramble, look so innocent in the pan, yet once you try to flip it, all bets are off! Looks like you’ve got some good eats as usual Lucie!

  14. Awwr girl, sorry to hear that the program didn’t meet all of your expectations… I’m looking forward to your complete recap of it.

Omigosh YES to the baby clothes buying. For me, it was toys for my tiny little nephew, but I remember walking into the store and having NO idea what to get. At first it was like… well, what would -I- like to play with? But obviously I’m not a 1 year old child. So yeah… I had to whip out the phone and Google the most popular toy 😆

    • Oh, bahahaha thank you so much I am so glad I am not the only lost one! I was searching in the 1-2 year old section first until I realied how tiny a newborn is…..so confusing 🙂

  15. Lisa says:

Hopefully the program will be able to meet your expectations before you finish it up, but I can’t wait to hear your final thoughts!
Your foods still look good though. I’d miss my carbs a ton I think ha.
Oh gosh, when I shop for baby clothes for my friends I swoon, it’s too cute. I also can’t believe they’re having kids. I feel so behind ha.

    • Yes, we’ll see how it turns out! I feel good, but the promises they made, didn’t hit so far, but I guess that happens with so many programs.
Oh well, imagine how I feel with nearly 35 and STILL no kids, I feel like an alien 🙂

  16. Your meals look great! I love the sound (and look!) of those mug cakes! You did great with the baby clothes, too!!! 🙂

  17. Frittatas are never pretty! Yours looks great, considering 🙂 And I’m going to try that cinnamon-chicken mug cake–I love the idea of it as an on-the-go meal. I’m always looking for a post-workout, pre-work power breakfast!

  18. I used to season chicken with rosemary and lemon all the time and you just inspired me to bring it back, yum!

  19. You know I’m all over those mug muffins! 🙂

  20. livliveslife says:

Fresh blueberries…yum. Such a sign of summer! 🙂

  21. Breakfast was a shake with super foods since I filmed I wanted to look nice and tight! I am not one to find baby stuff I need to take a class or something, I would have been just like you. love your , mug cake looks amazing and so perfect as a quick meal! Love + shine Courtstar

  22. Hahaha! Girl, you had me cracking UP over that fucked up…ahem, I mean MESSED UP fritatta! Omg! Hey, sometimes ugly food is the best tasting food! 😉

Funny you mentioned the baby clothes thing…I just met up with two of my girlfriends for dinner tonight and we had a little “baby shower” for my one friend who is due in a couple of weeks (3 days after YOUR b-day!). So last night I went to the store to do some shopping! At first I was completely lost, like seriously…I was wondering the aisles, picking things up, scratching my head, looking around to make sure no one was watching me look like an idiot…you know, THOSE kind of things! 😉 But then…I turned a corner and found all these super cute summer dresses!! They had flowers and bloomers with ruffles…absolutely the cutest things ever! So I ended up buying like 5 different outfits and a couple of little toys too! But the best part was seeing my friend’s face light up when she opened it all…guess I did a good job! 😀

    • Bahahaha, I have the EXACT picture of you in my mind, overwhelmed by baby stuff, and scratching your head 🙂 I have to say, once I got used to the huge variety I did find it fun! I can not wait to see their faces either when they open the box.

  23. […] so good. And it holds the omelett together much better, so it doesn’t fall apart like this Frittata Fail from last […]

If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
