Marvelous in my Monday – Winter is back but it’s still marvelous.

22. April 2013 by swissfitchick

Hi friends!

I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Can I just quickly whine about the weather? I mean it must be allowed since we had SNOW again. If you read my post from last Monday, you saw, that people were swimming in the lake, and sunbathing last Sunday, and this Saturday morning it SNOWED. I could barely trust my eyes.

Enough whining, despite the awful weather, there were still countless things this weekend which made it marvelous – so let’s head over to Katie and celebrate!!

As mentioned, I woke up with a snowstorm on Saturday morning and decided to do my workout inside. This is the good thing on having workout equipment at home – I paired a short Spinning session with weightlifting and a good time of stretching/foam rolling at the end. Soon after it was time for breakfast/lunch – BRUNCH:

Scrambled egg/eggwhites with zucchini

After fueling, Sandro and me went to do some errands, post office, grocery shopping and the typical stop at our coffee place with catching up on news and social media.

Later in the day I met Anne, my very good friend who lives here in Zurich too and we strolled downtown – she did some shopping – I resisted. Since I shopped along the last few weeks like crazy my wallet needs a break, big time! πŸ™‚

One of the best things about this walk was the new Frozen Yogurt shop I discovered downtown!! Isn’t that SO marvelous??? As soon as my Whole30 challenge is over I will be a guest there, can’t wait!!

When discussing dinner, Sandro and me were torn between salmon and prawns. I can never decide since I love both so much. There was an offer though for 400g fresh cooked prawns – Β there was no way I could turn down this tempting offer!! We tossed them over some saladgreens and added baby asparagus. Bliss.

SONY DSCSpontaneously, we decided to go to the movies for some entertainment, and believe me, we got it. We chose the new movie of Pedro Almodovar (same director as in Volver and many other Spanish Arthouse Movies). The story took place in a plane only and it was hilarious. And I loved that it was in Spanish – not that I understood one word, but I just love the sound of this language.

Before leaving, I dressed up a bit and rocked my new blue Oakwood leatherjacket plus the Marc O’Polo boots.

Sunday was a lazy restday. I didn’t even do my typical Yoga Routine in the morning, I just slept in, showered and had breakfast. Perfect Sunday if the weather is grey and wet! We travelled to Basel later, to visit my BFF and celebrate her birthday.

Happy Birthday to you......

Happy Birthday to you……

My determination seems to be so strong right now, that I managed to sit around these goodies for hours without touching. And I was really ok with it, I knew it is my decision and I didn’t feel that I had to restrict. It was especially nice since I had all the freedom to enjoy talks and laughs with my friends and not worrying about having not enough/too much food.

BUT – I am definitely looking forward to my first treat on MY birthday 9th of May!!

So I hope the weather in your place is a bit better and if not that you still had a marvelous weekend!! I did some recipe experiments on the weekend – not my own, but remade and modified some of my favorites – update coming tomorrow!

What was the last movie you saw in the cinema or at home you liked?

Did you do some new bakings/cookings this weekend?

  1. Eh, only a few more weeks until your birthday! I totally wish i could be there to celebrate with you =( As long as you promise we can talk the day or so before I’ll be happy =)

….and what 2 1/2 more wks until you can stuff your face with frozen yogurt? That sure is something marvelous to be counting down too!!!

p.s. you look darling in the above photos

  2. Whining is definitely allowed! Snow in April is just ridiculous!

Love your boots, by the way! πŸ™‚

  3. We had snow over the weekend too – not acceptable!

    Love your outfit. Too cute.
Snow on the weekend!! Crazy. We haven’t had snow all Winter or Spring hah. And they say Canada is cold πŸ˜‰ At least where I live it’s not.
I just want one snow day, but apparently that’s not happening this year.
Looks like a great weekend for you! haha, my wallet needs a vacation too;)

  5. Oh hun, I can definitely relate to your weather woes! It was snowing and blowing all weekend here, but it looks like things are finally clearing up, so I hope it’s the same for you! And hooray for birthday treats coming up! We celebrated my dad’s birthday this weekend, so there was looooots of chocolate cake to go around, and my dessert stomach definitely got some loving πŸ™‚

    Happy Monday!

    • Oh no, snow in Edmonton too! It looks like it’s getting sunnier again later in the week – as long as there is no snow or rain I am fine πŸ™‚
Sounds like a wonderful weekend with the celebration of your Dad’s birthday!

    • Thank you girl!!
Yes, it’s going really well, but I definitely look forward to my first treat!! I can not handle that we finally have Frozen Yogurt in town!

Love your outfit! I’m glad you had a great weekend! There was snow there too… I want spring and summer to come and never to leave!
I’m in need of an advice: I have a dinner on Friday and I have to bring the dessert. The problem is that my friend who invited me doesn’t eat fruit and does not really really like chocolate which makes it kind of complicated (since I still want to make something healthy). Any ideas?
    Happy Monday!

  8. I feel your pain with the weather. We also went from 25 degrees and sunny to -1 and snowing last week. You guys over there can be honorary Canadians while the sucky weather lasts! My city also just got a new frozen yogurt place and I can’t wait to try it because I have never had self-serve froyo before. It looks so yummy!!

  9. I *completely* commiserate with the snow situation! When I arrived in Boise three weeks ago, it was warm and sunny, then just a week later, we woke up to snow! Spring is such a flirt! I’m glad you were able to enjoy your weekend despite the chilly weather, though! And speaking of enjoying…Girl, that’s so exciting about the new froyo shop! I can’t wait to hear all about it when you go! Is it the first one in Zurich?!

The prawns you made for dinner look so so good! I used to make shrimp at home pretty frequently, but it’s been months now! One of my favorite dishes in the world is shrimp scampi…yum.

I’m so glad you enjoyed celebrating your friend’s birthday, and that you didn’t feel too tempted by all the treats. Your birthday treats are going to be all that much sweeter when the day arrives!

Over the weekend, I made chocolate protein bars that truly tasted like (healthy) cake. I can’t get over how similar the texture was, because usually protein bars are a bit dry or rubbery!

    Happy Monday, lovely! Hugs! xoxo

If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
