Marvelous in my Monday! – Challenges and a Winning Team!!

8. April 2013 by swissfitchick

How was your weekend? Welcome to a new round of the marvelous MIMM Party over at Katie’s!!

Today is a special day, since I start off with TWO challenges!

First is the Whole30. You might remember that I ordered the book ‘It starts with Food’ and said that I was thinking about doing the Whole30. So after reading reviews and the book, I decided to YES so, and today is my first day! I already got remarks like ‘oh, you’re doing another diet’ – which I must say isn’t true. I do the Whole30 because it is also an elimination experiment and I will see how my body and especially my belly reacts. I have uncomfortable issues with my stomach since a few weeks again and eating WHOLE FOODS for 30 days can’t be wrong. It is a ‘diet’ where you get ALL the nutrients in and I will eat ENOUGH normal food. Besides that, it is an eating style which you can do for life and it is not only a temporary diet to lose a few pounds in a short time.

The other challenge is the #RESTWEEK!!! Heather and Kasey host this challenge and I will join. I will go to Crossfit though 1-2 times since I just rejoined the group and therefore want to keep up. But I won’t do any other workouts except some soft Yoga as a morning routine. I am scared and excited all together!

I will update you on the challenges but for now let’s hop on the weekend recap wagon! My Weekend started on Friday morning as always with a 30 minutes Interval-Run-Strength-Session at the lake, followed by a fresh delish breakfast:

I didn’t have anything on the plan for the day, so I finished some errands, finished reading the Whole30 book until it was already time for lunch:

Recipe coming tomorrow!!

During the day, I realized that I caught a cystitis which I HATE. I had to go and get some antibiotics and then curled up on the couch for the rest of the day and night. The medicine knocked me out big time and I slept ELEVEN HOURS from Friday to Saturday!!! I have no idea when that happened the last time. I still felt under the weather on Sat, so I took a rest day and just went for a quick walk and some shopping with Sandro downtown until I went back to the couch to sleep AGAIN. It helped though and when the night came I felt much better and we went for dinner with a couple of friends – nice, funny, good food, drinks and company.

On Sunday, Sandro and me did our first race together! It took place in Sandro’s hometown and it was a 10k run. We split it up and registered as a couple. We warmed up with an easy 25 minutes run. I ran the first 5k, and then gave over to Sandro who finished with the other half. SO guess what…..there were only THREE couples who were registered and did the race. WE WON. YESS!!! We were number 1!!! Ok, I know, not very difficult with a 5 k and only 6 people, but still…..We won a gift voucher for a dinner in a fancy hotel in Zurich, value CHF 100.00. How freaking awesome is that???

The winner takes it all
The loser standing small
Beside the victory
That’s her destiny

I hope the song stucks in your head now πŸ™‚ It did in mine all day yesterday!!

After the race, we showered at Sandro’s parents house and quickly dropped over to their neighbors who have a new family member. Can we just pause for a second and look at this lovable thing?

I am not even sure if I should laugh or cry, I have no word for such cuteness.

Later on, I prepped my meals for my first day of the challenge and made a little plan on how to structure my rest week. So much time without workouts! πŸ™‚ Dinner happened! I cooked the Clean and Savory Ultra Low Carb Chicken PizzaΒ from Kierston – WINNER! Absolutely delicious.

The crust is somewhere under there! I SWEAR!

    6. Yum to all of your meals

  2. So much to say!!! First, congrats on winning that race! It doesn’t matter how many people were competing, what’s exciting is that you received that awesome certificate and voucher to a fancy restaurant!

I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts about Whole30! I know a lot of people who have had great experiences with it, but I’m most interested in finding out if it improves your digestion. If it does, I may have to follow your lead. πŸ˜‰ Although giving up all sugar would definitely be a challenge!

Yay for taking a rest week! I want to learn more about Heather and Casey’s challenge–from the little that I know, it sounds wonderful, and like it might provide extra time to focus on activities outside the gym. πŸ™‚

That puppy is ADORABLE! I want to bring him home! Have a wonderful Monday my dear! ❀ xoxo

    • I will surely update on the challenge! I feel you about the sugar, but it is only 30 days so I guess this is doable. And I really want to see how my digestive reaction is, so I try to stick with it, but it will be hard at times I know!
Isn’t that puppy the cutest thing ever??

  3. Good luck to you on the challenge! Can’t wait to hear how it goes for you. Congrats on the race…looks like ya’ll had a great time. That puppy is absolutely adorable!!

  5. Aww, what a super sweet puppy dog!!

I love the idea of a rest week. I think that this is something that my body needs. It sounds really refreshing, both physically and mentally!

  6. Well done on winning the couples race! That pizza looks YUM! πŸ™‚

  7. kepotts says:

Congrats on the race Lucie, super awesome! And I love the idea of a rest-week, can’t wait to hear all about it as you go through the week. I noticed that recipe for pizza the other day, looks divine. Happy Monday πŸ™‚

  8. That puppy! Omigoodness I can’t even handle the cuteness! I’m such a sucker for big fluffy dogs like that. Awwr. Melts my heart.

And congrats to you and Sandro on winning the race! Small or not, winning still feels amazing, and even more so when a gift certificate to a restaurant is involved πŸ˜€

Hope your week is off to a lovely start, hun ❀ ❀

  9. Lisa says:

Eeeee…I’ve seen doggies everywhere in posts today! I’m so obsessed with all of them. That dog is so precious!!
Congrats on the race Lucie! You are truly amazing! That just rocks!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on whole 30! I’ve heard of great things from others, but I couldn’t do it myself haha. Also can’t wait to hear about the rest week. I just took 3 days off recently and it felt good for sure. Happy Monday love!

  10. Amazing job on the run Lucie!! That puppy is way too cute too πŸ™‚

  11. Greta says:

Yay you won!!! Congrats you guys! This is awesome or what?!!
Gosh that pizza is so cool! I want to make it so much!!
And on the Whole30. I did it (ok only for 18 days) and loved it so much… however I got bored with the food so I added greek yogurt on the 19th day. πŸ˜€ I know you are very creative with your meals, so maybe I join you on this after a couple of days (have to finish up that yogurt) πŸ™‚ Good luck!

    • OH YES!! Please join me! That would be wonderful. I too had to use up the dairy stuff, I think I ate yogurt 3 times a day the last week πŸ™‚ We’ll see how far I come, I actually plan to finish it !
Thanks so much for your congrats!

  12. Congrats on winning the race! And the prize looks pretty fabulous too.

I took a rest week last week, and it was one of the smartest things I’ve done recently. Seriously, your body will appreciate it so much!

  13. Linz says:

i’d be curious to see how my body reacts to eliminating particular foods too – i’m interested to see what you post/how you feel/etc.!

  14. […] if you read Monday’s post, you know I am taking 2 challenges right now. The Whole30 and the […]

  15. Looking forward to reading about your journey!

I listen to my body when it comes to rest. Staying in tune is key πŸ™‚

  16. Ohhh, I’m definitely curious to see how the Whole 30 plan works for you in regards to your tummy issues! I’ve been having quite a few problems lately (I’ve almost always had issues, more they’ve been much more frequent as of late) and the man-friend has actually suggested that I try some sort of elimination diet. I’m just a little hesitant since I’m working so hard at intuitive eating right now…I don’t want to feel like I’m restricting anything and then have a frickin’ meltdown like one week in, ya know?

Congratulations on the race! I love the pic of you and Sandro! So happy! And what a sweet prize!!

Omg, total CUTENESS! That pup is like a miniature polar bear! Lol And that last pic of you with him? Ahhhhhhh-dorable! You look so beautiful!! xoxoxo

    • I totally understand that an elimination diet would cross your IE challenge now. Maybe you do it once you are a PRO – Intuitive-Eater and you just feel that you do yourself something good with the diet and don’t see it as a restriction. That’s how it works for me now.
And yes, the puppy is supercute – I could hardly leave him!!

  17. […] you may know, I am in the middle of my Whole30 challenge and so far it is going really well! I will make a more detailed update once it’s over, but I […]

If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves.
