One Lovely Blog Award

19. March 2013 by swissfitchick

Good morning Lovelies!!

I am very sorry but I have no recipe for you today. My weekend was so filled with events and going to dinners/brunch, I just did not have the time to make something up. There will be a new one next Tuesday, promised!

But don’t think I am letting you down, I have something different for you. I feel very honored and so happy that I was nominated for the One Lovely Blogger Award by one of my favorite star bloggers Amanda. I am a huge fan of Amanda’s blog, and I know I am not the only one πŸ™‚ Amanda is the master of words and her posts speak to my heart every time I read them. Absolutey worth to check out and register right away!!

One-Lovely-BlogRules: Share 7 things about yourself and nominate 7 bloggers for the award.

Ok, let’s start right into it.

1. I was a really cute baby and kid. When I grew into my teenage years (about 10-15) I looked awful, I don’t know what happened, but seriously…..I NEED to find a picture of me from back then. I remember one picture with a violet sweater with a huge pic of David Hasselhoff and K.I.T.T. on the front. I am not sure if you still want to be friends with me when I show you this. So let’s look at a cutie one with Dad from back then.

2. I always read magazines from behind. I really don’t know why I am doing this, but I just feel kind of better….ok, yes. I AM a weirdo.

3. When I look back at my 34 and a half years long life, I must say I have quite some educations. I am a Flight Attendant, I own a diploma as a massage therapist, one as a marketing assistant, I absolved my Bachelor in Social work and I know how to wait on table. Oh, and I did the Swiss Brevet in riding horses when I was 13 years old! So I am pretty useful, I guess…..

4. My name is Lucie. Not Lucy. Means, you need to spell it in the french version, which means the U is a U with the dots, like this: Ü. It is difficult to spell it in German or English. But I don’t mind to be called Lucy. It reminds me of that famous soap.

images5. Let’s stay with my name. My Grandma was called Lucie too. Lucie Pfaendler. Just like me. When my Mama was pregnant with me in her belly, my grandma got very sick. My Mom promised her that if they would get a girl, and she would not be able to get to know her, they would call her after my Grandma. So that was me, and that is the story of my name.

Speaking of my last name – it’s a typical and not very nice swiss name. If I would ever marry Sandro, my name would be LUCIE FERRARI (IF I would assume his name). I am so insecure. The name is famous and some people say I would sound like an artist (not that this is something I want to achieve). I feel that it sounds like a Pornostar. What do you think?

6. It’s my dream that I own a house or at least a bright flat that looks like this:

I am SO in love with that french shabby chic landhouse style, and that floor is just exactly my taste. I would feel like on holiday if I would live in such a home. I absolutely dream of it and pray to own it one day.

7. I used to be a brilliant Saxophone player. I started when I was 10 and I got the musical heritage from my Dad. My teacher wanted me to get professional, but I refused. I am a bit sad today that I did. I did play though for about 14 years and I was pretty good by then. No idea how it would sound today, but….maybe I should try one day.

Ok friends, that’s it, short and sweet! My nominees are:

Tell me 2 random facts about you!Β

No!!! No recipe!!?? Good for me! It’ll keep me from food for some time πŸ˜€

I’m in love with your name!! Saying it right now…LUCIE – sounds so chic!!

And OMG – Lucie Ferrari? Really? Ok, it made me smile for a second, but hell, it’s an awesome surname one should be very proud of! I’d like that name! Does Sandro have a brother? πŸ˜‰

Thank you for sharing all those things. I love knowing you better and better!
    Two random things about me:
I’ve been engaged forever but I don’t consider marrying… that is one sad story and I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but you’ve started it πŸ˜€
And I’m so bad with the awards. I love you nominated me. And I promise to try to pay my tribute to that (not like in other 10 cases) I’m a bad blogger friend 😦

    • Haha, yes,he has a brother but he is engaged – but since you are engaged too, that would make sense, right? Then we could be real twins – Lucie&Greta Ferrari – awwyeah!! πŸ™‚
I totally feel you on the marrying thing. I am terrified from the moment when Sandro makes his proposal. I kind of feel better being ‘unmarried’ πŸ™‚ Anxieties? Hmmmm…..
Hey, I expect you to honor my nomination and go for it soon! Especially cause it will give me a chance to get to know you even better, ha! xxxx

  2. you read magazine from behind, that is so funny. I didn’t know you used to play saxophone either. Very cool! I think it is awesome to learn more about bloggers this way

  3. How sweet about the origins of your name! I think you have a very beautiful name. And I think it would be cool (and flashy) if you took Sandro’s name. I don’t think it sounds like a pornstar at all…though I couldn’t help but laugh when you mentioned that! lol

I used to play the flute when I was in middle school. Only for about two years though and I wasn’t that good…yeah, there was definitely no professionalism in my future! πŸ˜‰

My name came from a flower. My mom was reading the book Wuthering Heights when she was pregnant with me and there was a scene where the characters were standing in a field of Heather…and well, it just stuck!

  4. Esthi says:

    Definitely porn star! πŸ˜‰ Hihi
Random fact: I am still scared of going down to the cellar alone. Pathetic I know. Most people grow out of that by about 5. I start off really confident and then I start imagining all the monsters lurking behind the shelves and then I practically sprint back up the stairs. Sad.
Btw I also do the magazine from the back thing sort of. I start at the back and then switch to the front.
Looking forward to our lunch later! 😘

  5. Congrats on the award Lucie! Love all the facts about you, I think Ferrari is an awesome surname to have!

    • Thank you Claire!! And thank you for your opinion about the name. I have no idea if we will ever get married, but if we do, then at least I know what to do in concern of names πŸ™‚

  6. Danielle says:

You are so sweet to nominate me! I love learning all these fun facts about you!

  7. It must be really annoying when people spell your name wrong. I know that I get frustrated when people spell Hannah without the “H” at the end!

And your magazine reading technique?…too funny!! πŸ˜‰

    • I feel you on that. Especially since Hannah is SUCH a pretty name, really, I might call my daughter Hannah if I ever make it to be pregnant πŸ™‚ Hannah Ferrari….hmmmmm πŸ™‚

  8. Haha I filled this out today too!
And you have quite the education, that’s awesome! My first name is pretty easy, but people mess up the spelling of my last name all the time. For whatever reason, people usually get the ‘l’ and the ‘p’ mixed up.

  9. Ana says:

Ahahahha, that’s so cool! You have done so much in your professional life…! And play saxophone?? Like… wow! Sometimes I think – “yeah… in 23 years, you’re still trying to finish your course in Veterinary medicine, while others have done so much more and have more life experience that ever”… I love my course, but sometimes, it really makes me think if all this time was worth it. Guess that when I start to work I’ll find out πŸ˜‰

And Ferrari is cool, by the way, and I don’t find it weird reading magazines from the back… I do it myself =P

And oh, 2 random things .
    1) I smoked for 5 years, when I thought it was “cool” and stopped smoking – for good – 2 years ago
    2) I could live of nut butters… seriously, I had to stop buying it, because I notived I’d eat a jar in… 3 days xD

By the way, something I wanted to ask you – I still live in Portugal, but I’m gonna live on Geneve soon (boyfriend is being SOOOO patient, and is waiting for me to finish the course lol) but in the times I went there, I never found a health food store, or whole foods store (except Globus… but it’s waaaay expensive!)… Do you know if there’s any around? I know you don’t live there, but it doesn’t hurt to ask πŸ˜‰

    • I don’t think at all that your education is not worth it! I think you are doing a wonderful job and it does not matter if you just do one which is more challenging and longer instead of a few educations like me which were not too difficult to absolve. In the end you just have to be happy with what you are doin!
That is very sweet of your boyfriend that he is waiting for you! Geneva is beautiful. You can google ‘Whole Foods in Geneva’ and should actually find all the Whole Foods stores there. Whole Foods in Switzerland IS expensive, but for veggies, fruits, carbs you can go to Coop, they have a Whole Foods line. Hope that helps!

  10. I always love hearing stories about how people get their names, and yours is so super sweet πŸ™‚ My mom named me after a little girl that she used to look after when she worked in a daycare before I was born. My parents had just immigrated to Canada from Poland and I guess they wanted me to have a more Canadian name, so my mom chose Amanda. I have to say that I’m glad I came out a girl, though… If I had been a boy, I would have been named after my dad, and I’m not too sure how much I’d enjoy being a Junior πŸ˜†

  11. Lisa says:

Don’t worry about not posting a recipe, sometimes we get busy!
Haha, I too, was a really cute baby (if I say so myself) but whoaaaa teenage years were not kind to me at all! I had frizzy hair, a little chubby, and I actually wore a fanny pack…yes, it was awkward, I should find some of those pictures too ha.
That’s really cool you have studied so much and been in so many different career paths! I always like hearing peoples journeys in their careers, since I’m clueless in that department for now.
So interesting about your name, I find that stuff fascinating. I think Lucie Ferrari sounds cool! Not porno at all haha.
My name came because my parents couldn’t agree on any other name haha. My Dad wanted me to be named Brooke and my Mom wanted me to be named Mia. So they finally decided on Lisa like last minute.
Thanks for the nomination! Excited to do this!

    • Hey, but you’re going to be a Pilates Teacher, I think that is so great!!!
And I LOVE your name. Brooke is pretty lovely too, I love the names we can not have at all here in Switzerland since they would sound so odd with a Swiss last name.

  12. Ahahaha you MUST marry Sandro and become Lucie Ferrari!! Girl, that name is RACEY!! Pornostar? Maybe? Lady of intrigue? Definitely! I love your name story–it’s so special that you’re able to carry on your grandmother’s legacy! Sara is a name that’s been in my family for years; in fact, I can count six Sara’s (some with “h’s” at the end), and that doesn’t include those that have passed away!

I had no idea you were a flight attendant! Which airline did you work for? When I was little, that was my dream job! I thought it would be so cool to be able to travel all over the world for free. I didn’t realize that all of that traveling would mostly consist of being in airports and hotels, though. πŸ˜‰ Did you enjoy it? And how cool that you were an accomplished saxophone player! I used to play the flute and trombone, however I was *far* from accomplished! πŸ˜‰ Oh, and if I come to Switzerland will you teach me how to give a really good massage? I love getting massages, but it would be nice to know how to give a good one, too. πŸ™‚

Hope you’re having a wonderful week, beautiful! Thank you so much for the nomination! ❀ xoxo

    • Ok, I think you all convinced me to be Lucie Ferrari maybe one day πŸ™‚
Yes, I did work for SWISSAIR. So sad that they grounded, it was such a cool ‘community’ feeling working there, I loved it. But it’s hard to do it for long!
Oh sure!! I’d be more than happy to show you some techniques!! You can then try them out on me, haha πŸ™‚

  14. I seriously read magazines backwards too! No idea why, I just always do! Loved this post! Very interesting!!

Who thought I would ever write again. If you encounter those feelings, you can't work around your own vulnerability.

But: there is one emotion that is stronger than fear, and that is forgiveness. For power is never simply a possession but an exercise; power is about how we understand ourselves. If we can forgive, we can let go. If we can let go, we can detach. If we can detach, we find happiness.' #blogger #heartstories #detachment #happiness
