WIAW#12 – What I ate Wednesday

Good morning and welcome to a new round of WIAW hosted by Jen over at Peas and Crayons!! I can only recommend to head over and check out all the creative cooks linking up!!


Before I jump straight into this foodparty I have great news! Sandro and me booked our trip to the U.S.!!! We will spend 15 days in both NYC and Boston in June – I can not wait!!!!! Wooooooot!!!!

Something else really wonderful happened on Monday late afternoon: I had the first springrun at the lake!!!! It was sunny and warm and I ran without gloves! It was SO refreshing and light and felt so so good with the sun in my face, and the glitter on the water of the lake. When arrivingย  home, I felt so energized and added some mini workouts from TIU. I am on a TIU kick lately as you see. I just love the scenery of the workouts, it makes me feel I am there at the beach too. ๐Ÿ™‚

So fuel was needed. I already had tons of veggies throughout the day so I went for a full bowl of protein…..

Dessert happened back in the office – two of the Lemon Poppyseed Cookies from ToneItUp which I baked on the weekend!!

After work I cycled to the supermarket to get some stuff for the week. I only came from Zurich in the morning so did not do any meal prep or shopping, so food was needed!

Chicken, Smoked Salmon, Nori Sheets, Broccoli, Lemons, Sweet Potatoes, Eggs, Bananas, Blueberries, Chickenbreast, Strawberries

Since I was already 30 minutes on the Spinning bike before work in the morning, I skipped the gym. I did a few Ab Burner Rounds from Gina and then had dinner.

Dinner was simple and uncreative…..

Throughout the day and before bed one drink was always present: Tea. I usually have 1-2 big cups of green tea with lemon and ginger in the morning, in the afternoon and evening I switch to Gingertea, Nettletea, or just mixed Herbtea.

Do you prepare your meals in advance? I do. It makes my week so much more relaxed and I can eat healthy every day even when busy.

    Aww, those cookies!! And I don’t get what was about that dinner being unattractive – it’s the most beautiful thing – give me the fork, spoon, anything – the hell, I’d eaten that with bare hands!
    I have to stop starring at your food. Seriously. I’m always getting so hungry! Like right now. Pancakes are calling my name!!
    My drink is always water, then coffee and then the vine ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Hahaha, ‘stop staring at your food’ – you crack me up girl ๐Ÿ™‚ I promise you will love the pancakes!! Just watch out, they are very low calorie. You might need to eat the double amount ๐Ÿ™‚

I had a very similar dinner last night…turkey deli meat and a roasted kabocha squash with cinnamon…and of course I got a little #strangebutgood action in there and drizzled some coconut peanut butter on top! DEEE-lish! ๐Ÿ˜‰ And that salad looks to die for!! It’s been so long since I’ve had some good grilled tofu! I need to remedy that pronto!

    I don’t usually do a lot of meal prep but as you saw from my post on Monday, I got a wild hair and ended up with quite a few things to nosh on throughout the week! I have to say it’s been rather nice not having to worry about what to pack for dinner to take to work all week! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Favorite drink as of RIGHT now…homemade chai lattes!! My milk frother has been gettin’ a lot of action lately! Lol

    • Uh, I need that strangebutgood flavor on my next Sweet Potato too, sounds so yummy! And I am all about strangebutgood. Yup, I think Meal PRep is useful, as my head is quite dull during my workweek, I would probably put yogurt in the oven or something stupid like that ๐Ÿ™‚

    I actually don’t do a lot of meal prepping…although I try to make big meals for dinner so that I have leftovers. I should think about hopping on the meal prep bandwagon, it seems to make things a lot easier!

    • I think some spontaneous cravings or intuitive eating is GREAT. But I just don’t have the time during the week. I usually just go with the flow on the weekends though!

  5. I always prepare my meals in advance. I agree, it makes the week so much less hectic!

    Those pancakes look awesome. Love those big globs of sweet topping ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. My favorite drinks…coffee in the morning, hot tea at night and diet coke all day. Could be healthier, but oh well.

    Everything looks great, and I need to check out those pancakes you are raving about. Always looking for a healthy pancake recipe.

    Your cookies are cute, and that salad looks great, no wonder you eat it often.

    I also enjoy drinking my green tea throughout the day, but never added ginger or honey to it, just drink it without anything.

      I’ve been a lot to the U.S. before since I used to be a Flight Attendant ๐Ÿ™‚ But I haven’t been there for a long time now and so much looking forward to it!

  12. I have been loving the warmer weather and have been running outside finally. I am literally counting down the days until spring. All your meals looks delicious, the cookies are adorable!

No filter. And no one ever tells me again bullshit like that CrossFit makes me look like a man. Left side, 1998 (19y), ~60kg, in an abusive relationship, fueled by a daily dangerous skinny drug cocktail which almost killed me and hours of cardio, no lifting and an oh so fucked up mindset. Right side, 19 years later today (39y), ~68kg (~8kg gainzzz!!). Recovered from 20 years of extreme disordered eating and drugs; and passionate about CrossFit. A healthy mind (pretty much at least ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰), a healthy body, freedom and a joy of life I had never experienced before. To be alive and healthy is a fucking miracle. I've always been a stubborn kid and I never half-assed things - contrary, I went and still go full-ass with everything I did and do - which also led me to extreme addictions. But it also allowed me to fight through suicidal thoughts and hurdles. Yet, if you want to overcome something so incredibly strong and stubborn like an Eating Disorder you have to be stronger and more stubborn and to want it with all your heart and to give everything you got. If you are willing to let go in favour of your health, then get your shit together, you can do it. It's possible, I'm the living proof. Trust your strength and never stop believing. And for fucks sake, no one ever goes trying to make me feel embarrassed about my muscles again. I'm not.
