Friday Favorites

Hey Folks!

First of all, thank you SO much for all the sweet and beautiful comments on yesterday’s post. I appreciate each one of them and it makes me feel SO GOOD to have all this support around me! Thank you!!

So then let’s head on to the weekend! WEEKEND! It’s Friday and as you can see I pretty much started to like these Friday favorite posts. As good as it feels to write a deep and thoughtful post, I just love to throw out random stuff that is hanging around in my mind. And it’s just good to have some sketchy fun once in a while, right?

So yesterday, I was beyond excited when I got the message from Heather, that she posted my blabla and my Pumpkin-Carrot-Chilli on her blog. How wonderful is that girl? I am such a fan of her blog. And I never expected that, since that Chilli happened SO randomly on a cold winternight during my workweek and I sent the pic to her over Twitter on the ‘C’ day for the #plantPower challenge. She immediately asked for the recipe and I had to give quite some effort to get it back together in my head, since it was such a random meal I cooked up in a mood. So I post it here again for you and it will also be on my recipe page, since it is not even there yet!

Lucie’s Ultimate Carrott-Pumpkin-Chilli

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 large carrots
  • 2 cups chopped pumpkin
  • 1 cup low sodium vegetable broth
  • 1 large can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 2 medium chopped zucchini
  • 1/ can red kidney beans (optional)
  • 1/2 chopped red onion
  • Grated garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Chili powder – amount depends on your β€˜hot’ taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Dash of tabasco sauce

  • Roast pumpkin and carrots in a preheated 350 oven for 15-20 minutes (carrots) and 30-40 minutes (pumpkin) until tender (take the fork-test).
  • While the pumpkin and carrots are roasting, melt coconut oil over medium heat in a large pot.
  • Roast onion in the oil. When onion gets a little brown, add zucchini and stir/steam until soft.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and stir and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove carrots and pumpkin from oven and add to the pot.
  • Stir and simmer until they have well combined to a nice chili.
  • Enjoy!!

Don’t think there won’t be recipe on Tuesday – there will be! I had a few requests and will share some aaaahmazing salmon deliciousness.

Talking about cooking… kitchen looks very clean. BEFORE I start cooking. And AFTER I cleaned it up when I finished cooking. But not while I cook….

Sandro took this pic when I was in the living room setting the table for us. MEAN, right???

Oh my God I can not believe I just posted that. I hope you will still read my blog….or maybe anyone can relate? Please say you do!! Anyone??

Ok, let’s head on to some easy stuff. Here you can see me playing the Piccolo the night before Fasnacht started. It’s kind of a pre-event, which I like a lot. The blonde beauty next to me is of course Sylvia my best friend.

When I was back from Basel and Fasnacht, I got back to my good old meal routine. There’s nothing than can’t be fixed by a delicious breakfast:

Overnight Coconut Oats stirred in a Banana-Avocado-Strawberry-Protein-Smoothie

Or a filling colorful dinner…..

Tempeh, Steamed veggies, Coconut-Egg-Omelette

And now guess what, my first REAL workout happened only yesterday. I did a very short weightlifting on Wednesday to make sure I keep up with the toning, but no Cardio and no Master-Insanity-Stuff. Yesterday morning I felt so well rested and rocked a workout mix of TRX, Circuits, Abwork, Cycling etc. – and the best thing is that I can do it all at home in my ‘gym’ πŸ™‚ Well, maybe not a gym, but it’s all I need. I only go to the gym for the heavy powerlifting or for some classes, all the rest I do outdoor (running, Tabata) or at home – much better like!!

Greatest thing about yesterday was – that Sandro took a day off from work. That happens very rarely, and since I am still on hols this week, I was beyond happy. After the workout we went to out favorite coffeeplace for some good fuel.

Vegetable Ricotta Sandwich, Green Tea, Coco Water

I always forget how tasty sandwiches can be. I never consider them as ‘real’ food, but I think they can be done so filling and tasty like this one.

After spending chill-time, we took the train to Lucerne to see the traffic-museum. I haven’t been there before, which is a little scandal since this is a really famous museum in Switzerland. I didn’t take any pics except this one of this really old tram with the chocolate promotion of course πŸ™‚

And is there anything better than parcels arriving? When we returned home, I got one from a trader who sells these A&F hoodies for nothing. We can’t buy it here so I was excited to get 2 of them so cheap. I love it.

One dislike – it’s a bit too short. When I move too much, it goes up and especially in winter I prefer clothes that cover my kidneyarea.

image(17)And I also got this book I ordered. My trainer Shannon did this program in January and was absolutely thrilled. I am not a fan at all of ‘programs’ or set meal plans, but her story intrigued and inspired me, so I definitely want to have a look into it and then decide if I am ready for something like this.

Ok friends, that’s it for today!! I am going to brew some of my favorite tea lately I got from my Foodie Penpal Nichola, will memorize this quote and start the weekend.

Grapefruit-Pinapple SUCH a fantastic combo!!

Does any of my fellow bloggerfriends have a good survey for me I could post tomorrow? Much appreciated!

Happy Weekend to all of you!

xxx Lucie

Your favorite food/fashion/happening this week?

Do you manage to keep your kitchen neat while you cook?

Oh, wow! That hoody is so you, Lucie!! The yellow is your color, very few people could pull that off! You look so pretty!

I also have and read that book, but I never challenged the Whole 30; so if you will, let us know – who knows maybe I’ll join you πŸ˜‰

I managed to keep my kitchen clean while cooking. I don’t know how i do that, even my mom who is a neat freak wonders, cause she cant πŸ˜€

And fashion wise – I’m all in black this week, however I’m pulling some glitter on Saturday πŸ˜‰

Plus, I might be not the best cook, but your chilly is so easy, so I’m thinking about trying your recipe on the weekend. Thank You!!

    • Thank you love! The Hoodie is perfect for the cold weather now. Aaah, I know you will look beautiful on Sat! πŸ™‚
And yes, try it, it’s super easy and sooo good! I sometimes add some chicken to get a protein boost.

  2. Oh, I LOVE Lucerne!! I’m quite jealous that you live so close to that gorgeous town! Next time I’m there (hopefully next summer), we must meet up, k? I’ve actually never been to Basel, so I’d like to go there, as well. Which city do you live closest to?

My goodness does your pumpkin chili look good! I love that it contains pieces of roasted pumpkin, rather than pumpkin puree. I bet that adds a lot of delicious flavor. Yum!

As far as the kitchen mess goes…umm, I can definitely relate! Mine always looks like a tornado hit after I cook. πŸ˜‰ The only problem is that I can’t sit down and truly enjoy my meal until it’s all cleaned up. So, that almost always means cold food. Nothing a microwave can’t fix, though!

Favorite fashion this week: I’m kinda loving the mint green trend! Favorite food: tie between salmon sashimi (I’ve eaten it three times!) and sweet potatoes.

    Happy FRIDAY, Lucie!! ❀

    • Mint green is beautiful and I am sure you look stunning with that color!! Oh my Gosh, YES we have to meet up when you come to Switzerland!!! I live in Basel AND Zurich so I can show you around both cities.
Am glad I am not the only one with the explosion in the kitchen, haha πŸ™‚

  3. Your pumpkin chilli looks amazing Lucie, so hearty, wholesome and healthy. YUM!

  4. Esthi says:

  5. Love the look of that chili! I must try that and don’t feel bad; my kitchen looks just as bad when I’m in cooking mode. Have a wonderful weekend, Lucie!!

  11. P says:

The sandwich and chili looks awesome! I hate jackets/hoodies that “ride up” too. It can be so annoying :P!

  12. jessie says:

Yum!! That chili looks awesome my love. You really have become quite the chef lately :)… however that kitchen, yes we can still be friends, but if we ever get a chance to cook together, just know that you’ll be in charge of chopping up the ingredients while I get the dishes done as we are preparing the meal, Ha Ha!

Cute hoodie too btw. It looks adorable on you.. but really, anything does! πŸ™‚

    • Hahaha girl, I KNEW that you would say this as I know you are THE neat kitchenchef! πŸ™‚ I promise, if we cook together I’ll clean up everything WHILE cooking πŸ™‚
