Good morning friends! I hope your Monday is off to a good start. It is a very special Monday here, since it is CARNEVAL!!! I will get to that later on, first let’s celebrate Marvelous in my Monday with the lovely Katie @healthydivalife.

So the weekend actually started with a spontaneous overtraining Friday. It wasn’t planned like this, it just happened and since I am getting better with overtraining I did not blame myself. Besides that it was FUN. I went for a short run in the morning, just my daily booty call. Some core to follow. Then I actually planned to do GRIT after work in the evening (GRIT = 30 min HIIT) but then my trainer messaged me to tell me that I am the only one registered for the class. He suggested that I do the powerlifting routine instead. So I prepared for that, when I saw, that they have an ‘OPEN GYM’ session at the gym for an exception. Open Gym is Daniel’s and his friend’s project and it is a Functional Training workout a bit Crossfit-style. They usually train at an external place, but on Friday they did it at the gym.

Since I always wanted to try it, I took this chance. Well, I have no idea how I was able to cycle home after my heavy lifting weight session PLUS Open Gym. And my muscles were sore for 2 days. But it was great and as I said before – feeling how much my body is actually capable to do, is an awesome feeling.

But this meant, I took a full restday on Saturday. I did not plan it, but I knew my body needs it and I wanted to listen to that. I did some soft Yoga to losen up my muscles but that was it. Even the walk we took at the lake was very short – yet totally beautiful!!

IMG_2776IMG_2779My body was asking for food ALL day. I wasn’t surprised and I fed it. Sandro and me shared a vegetable-pie at the café while hanging in, reading and chatting.

IMG_2788 IMG_2789I wanted some healthy balanced fuel for dinner and took the time to create a delicious meal:

My legs were so tired so the only thing that happened that night was a movie and laziness on the couch!!

I am a huge fan of Christoph Waltz, and I love pretty much all of Quentin Tarantino’s movies.

On Sunday, I hit a TRX session first thing, followed by Sara’s Banana-Oatmeal-Protein-Pancakes. Oh my GOSH, they are SO good. I had no idea that you could add cottage cheese to pancakes but really, they were so fluffy, I absolutely loved it.

Later on, I started to prepare for carneval. Now let me explain shortly. Carneval in Basel is called FASNACHT and is very traditional and very popular too. The whole city is in a state of exceptional circumstances for 3 days (Start is Monday 4am, until Thursday morning 4am), crowded, loud and colorful. I am in an active group since I am a child, I always loved it. It seems very strange and crazy for external people and not everyone likes it. Here are a few impressions:

  7. Carneval strange?! Heck no – it looks awesome! I’ve never been but I would absolutely love to attend one day, so if you’re ever in need of a roomie around this time of year, let me know😉 I hope you have an amazing time, Lucie!

    As for my body asking for non-stop food some days…. definitely! And I don’t even have the excuse of doing those hardcore workouts like you did!

  10. I definitely have days where my body just wants me to eat everything in sight! You deserve it after all the hard workouts you did. I’ve never been to a Carneval celebration before, but it sounds like a blast.

  11. What a fabulous Fasnacht! Growing up I obviously participated in children’s carnival festivites but haven’t taken part in it afterwards anymore. Looks like you had a great weekend for sure! Hope you’ll have lots more fun celebrating until Thursday.

    Non-stop eating can be quite usual for me at times. I’ll admit I’m not a hundred per cent comfortable with it but I guess my body must be asking for food for a reason.

    • Oh yes, especially for children the carneval is so great!! And when they are dressed up, they look so adorable.
      I can totally relate. I mostly have kind of a plan, and when my body asks for everything else, it is quite hard give in and make good decisions!

    And speaking of beautiful food, those marinated zucchini salmon wraps look delicious, too! Would you like to share the recipe?😉 I’ve had an insatiable craving for salmon lately, and have eaten it four times since Sunday. It’s one of those foods that never gets old!

    Carneval in Basel looks like so much fun! I’ve always dreamed of celebrating this holiday (nobody in the United States does anything–except those living in New Orleans) because it seems like such a happy gathering. I hope you’re having TONS of fun–can’t wait to hear all about it!❤ xoxoxo

    • YES these pancakes are sooooo good and they will happen a lot more around here!
      The salmon recipe I will share for sure I’ll post it next Tuesday, which is my recipe day🙂

  13. Holy crap girl!! I can’t believe you even had the energy for a crossfit type workout after already having done a weight session! I bow to your biceps!😉 No wonder you were super hungry…you EARNED it! I’ve definitely had my fair share of insatiable days…and sometimes it happens without reason…hate that…makes me feel like a little piggy! Haha!

    • Oh yes, believe me, I was a physical wreck on my bycicle ride home🙂 so the fuel was much needed🙂
      I am so glad the berries are back! Fresh ones are so much better than the frozen version!!
