Hey, happy Sunday!
I rarely post on Sundays, but I wanted to do a survey since weeks and today is the day! It is a quite weekend around here so I took this as a chance to fill in one. I found this one on Amanda’s blog last year and it’s all about the best times of the day – breakfast, lunch, dinner AND dessert! Exciting, ey?? So let’s get straight to it:
1. Favorite cereal as a child?
Kellog’s Corn Flakes with milk. Mom was very strict on not feeding us too much sugar, so this and oats was the only ‘cereals’ we got.
2. Coffee or tea? With milk or without?
Tea. I don’t drink coffee. I love the smell, but I think it tastes gross – sorry. I am also not a huge milk fan, but occasionally I drink this Chai Green Latte which I think is really delicious! Normally though, I drink unsweetened herb/green tea all day. I am boring!
3. The one food you eat most often at breakfast?
Eggs!! Yup. I might I turn into a chicken one day (I already have the right name, see? Fit-Swiss-Chick….aaaahahahaha.) I put them in my pancakes, porridge, frittata, scramble……A morning with eggs is a perfect start into my day.
1. Sandwiches are generally considered a “lunch food.” If you had to choose between a grilled cheese and a peanut butter and jelly, which would you pick?
Come on. I am Swiss. Of course I pick cheese!! I am not very patriotic, but I am definitely convinced that we produce the best cheese and chocolate. Even though I don’t eat it very often, a Fondue or a good piece of Gruyère is an absolute must. Yummyummyumm.
2. You can only put four ingredients into your salad (not including greens); what do you throw in the mix? Additionally, which greens and dressing do you pick?
Four. FOUR?? Hm. I am the salad-combo-addict. I make a different salad combo every day. And now I have to choose one?? That’s hard. Ok….Shrimps – Walnuts – Egg – Grapes. For greens I love raw spinach or cornsalad, dressing: apple vinegar-lemon-ginger-dressing made by me and aaaaaahmazing.
3. One food you can’t live without at lunch?
Veggies. I really love veggies (not a lie) but I don’t like them too much for dinner so I try to have a good portion for lunch.
1. It’s the end of the day. You’re tired, hungry, and your fridge is empty. If a fast food (from a chain) is your only option, where do you go and what do you order?
Very funny. Remember I live in Switzerland? We do not have 24h shops or stuff like this. So when I am in Basel I would need to cycle to the train station where there is McDonalds and it would probably be a salad or baked apple pie, or fries. Or Migros Take Away – a wrap. But they close at 10pm. When I am in Zurich, there is at least tibits near us where I can get some Vegeterain-Take-Away. I can’t remember when I ordered something in the last time. I am not very good in waiting for my food. When the delivery guy arrives I am already hungry-hangry and later I feel sorry for him. So I better take care of it myself….
2. TV/computer on or off while you’re eating?
On. I am working on that. Since I still haven’t the best relationship to food, it is clearly better to be focused on my meal when I eat it rather than being distracted with work or other stuff. AND shouldn’t food be honored with attention? I put effort and time into the preparation and I am thankful for having food in my life. Besides that it is not nice to have applesauce or pancake crumbs or saladsauce on my keyboard.
3. The one food you eat most often at dinner?
Well. To be really honest – I love to eat something like a dessert for dinner. My digestion is weak by that time and too many veggies just don’t do it for me. Still, I try to include them by making a soup or a green smoothie. Or Egg-Frittatas. Frittatas work ALL DAY. I definitely try to have some protein at night so in the end it is still a healthy mess.
1. Choose between these two American desserts: cheesecake or apple pie?
Uuuuh. Could I swap them with Mom’s chocolate cake? Neither cheesecake or apple pie sound too appealing to me. If I had to choose though I would go for apple pie. But I still eat Mom’s chocolate cake, BOOM!
2. Choose between these two foreign desserts: tiramisu (Italy) or flan (Spain)?
Well, since I don’t like the taste of coffee, I would go for the flan. But the consistency of tiramisu is totally my taste after all. Can I go for my berry tiramisu? PLEASE!!!
3. Ice cream: cone or cup?
Cone!! How can I turn something down that tastes like a cookie?? The best is that last bite of the cone – the bite with some chocolate fudge in it. YUMMMMM.
Ok, sorry I need to go and get some chocolate. Bye.
