We must continue to strive for Love, Peace and Solidarity. My heart and thoughts go out to all who are affected by the tragedy in CT.

As I don’t feel particularly wordy in this time, I decided to make this health questions survey. Let’s get right started:

What did you eat for breakfast?

I had a delicious pumpkin-egg-porridge topped with almond butter. It’s one of my favorite breakfast!

2. How much water do you drink a day?

I drink about 1,5 litres of water and maybe the same amount unsweetened green tea or herb tea. If I am on the road, I always carry a bottle with lemon water or pure water with me.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

Hm, this is hard. I do so many different things, I mostly try to chose the workout I feel like the most – this way I always like to work out, believe it or not. Currently I am a lot into HIIT, Crossift, Swimming and definitely always some Yoga once in a while.

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

Calorie counting can be dangerous. It can get obsessive which is unhealthy. I list my meals sometimes in an onlline calorie counter to check. But I prefer to let my body gets what it needs – some days I do not have an appetite, some days I need more. In general, I think it’s something between 1600-1800 kcal.

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Any kind of fruit with Almond Butter. Or hardboiled eggs with veggie sticks. I also love when I have some homemade snacks around, like Protein-Cookies or Date-Balls.

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

I try and vary it up. I definitely always include veggies.

I love frittatas, baked and stuffed sweet potato, salad, or a eggie-veggie-casserole.

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

As long as it is not a workout with machines, I like to train all parts of my body. If I had to chose one, it’d be abwork. I really like doing abwork, yes!! 🙂

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

Again….if I had to chose one it would probably be legs.

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

I prefer not to label food as good or as bad. I am totally convinced that any food is ok as long as it stays in moderation. If I had to list my cravings for ‘high-calorie-and-fatty’ food, it is definitely cookies and cake. I can sit next to chips, fries, cheese, pizza – doesn’t interest me. But if there are my fave cookies or a doughy cake around, I turn into a greedy animal.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Ehm….no. I think I am just too lazy. Besides that my meals are pretty balanced so I think my body gets most of what it needs.

11. How often do you eat out?

Not a lot I think – I am going to guess around 2 times a week. I like to meet friends for lunch sometimes. So I do that once and on the weekends I ALWAYS have an invitation for dinner with friends or we go out for dinner. Since I know good places in Zurich and Basel where you can eat healthy, it’s not a big deal to stay on track.

12. Do you eat fast food?

Not really. Is Fast Food only Junk Food? If so, then no. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been to Mc Donald’s or something like this. It’s more because I just don’t crave it at all and don’t like it too much either. If Fast Food is take away, then I have a salad from the salad bar sometimes, or a veggie plate from tibits.

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

I am supported in such a wonderful way from my man Sandro, my Mom, my brother and his wife, my closest friends, and from you, my readers!!!

14. Do you have a gym membership?

Yes, I do. Even though I do a lot of my workouts at home or outdoor. I use the gym for cardio sessions on the elliptical trainer, or heavy weight lifting or a group class.

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

A lot 🙂 During the week I sleep 7-8 hours. I manage to sleep even more on weekends like 9-10 hours. I need it and I love it!!

16. Do you have a “cheat” day?

No. I don’t like to judge my days or meals as ‘cheat’. I try to eat as balanced as possible, but I eat chocolate every day, I also have a drink on weekends. Like this, I never get the feeling of having to ‘cheat’. It’s just all part of my diet and moderation is key. I never gained weight because I indulged here and there. I did though, when I deprived myself from ‘bad’ food.

17. Do you drink alcohol?

Occasionally, mostly on weekends when there is an event or a party or a dinner. Though I hardly ever drink wine. I have some prosecco, sometimes a grappa or campari. I like the stuff, but I don’t need too much of it to get into a partymood 🙂

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

No. Sometimes, Sandro joins me for a run and I workout with the Crossfit guys. But I definitely prefer to workout on my own so I can clear my head, concentrate on the exercise and having this as my ME time.

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

I realised that food should not be judged, that it is nourishement and that my body needs it. I realised, that if I treat my body right, it will give me all I need, will carry me through life and will look beautiful. Since I committed to a healthy lifestyle my bingeing-and starving relapses dicreased immensely, I have a much more positive attitude, feel happier, and am more aware of this beautiful thing called life.

Meditating for 15 minutes followed by 50 minutes Power Yoga, followed by a healthy breakfast!

    Oh I love your list and your attitude! It’s so lovely to see what your thoughts are on many things that I often wonder about people and also feel the same on many of your questions myself! Your view on treats/cheats makes so much sense, and I often wonder which is a good approach for me. last year I was very strict for 3 months, and then I “collapsed” into the sweet bin over the holidays and couldn’t get out of it for ages. Now I am at a place where I am trying to have less treats during the week and be more flexible during the weekends. It’s not easy, but so far it is helping me with my sugar addiction. Oh how I wish I could wake up and be free of it! The “moderation” thing is hard for me so I’m still experimenting and seeing if I like having a “flexibility” day or meal rather than a cheat. I hate that word anyhow, it’s so negative. I prefer to say flexible and that doesn’t put so much pressure on it. Plus, I think a whole day of junk would feel horrible, but a meal or treat without any pressures would be nice on a occasion. Allowing myself a treat everyday is a bit too overwhelming for me, I really feel foggy after just the tiniest bit of sweet, and then want more like an addict! But on the weekends I’d like to feel more at ease since I’m not at work and that alone makes me more relaxed, lol. More importantly for my treats I’m working more on quality versus quantity 🙂

    • Thank you Girl!! I know exactly what you mean, I had the same experience. Not long ago I could not handle any treat without feeling totally guilty and then fall into e binge. It is something that develops with time – you will achieve to be more flexible, just try every day! I am also more relaxed on the weekends as I am not stressed out. Meanwhile I have days when I can totally handle treats, some days I can’t. Food is an emotional thing for us and that’s why we struggle to just satisfy our body’s sugar craving with a little treat instead of eating it all at once. I figured though that I can lose/maintain my weight much better when I allow myself a little treat each day instead of depriving myself and the collapse in a binge. It takes a lot of time and training, don’t give up!

        Thanks so much Lucie! I love your attitude, you really make sense and I appreciate how you know where I’ve been and what it’s been like. I’m 10 days away from a 28 day sugar detox, and I really needed it. Before this I was having soooo many treats every day, and was training so ridiculously hard for my triathlons that I justified it, but now that I’m done racing for the year and have some injuries, my body really needed abreak from the sugar. I was feeling cranky, emotional and bloated all the time,a nd like I could not relax. I hate that feeling! Now I feel more emotionally balanced and I do have a treat I feel better that I will be able to stop myself within reason, and not go overboard like I did for days, weeks and months.I’m proud of myself for not purging, but much more happy that I’m giving myself a true cleanse from sugar. I could use more veggies though, definitely not having enough right now. You are such a star, happy day to you girlie! xoxox
